  • It’s better to GIVE than to RECEIVE! The WMS Kindness Club is partnering with the Arlington Police Department for the “Fill the Cruiser – Holiday Toy Drive.” Students and staff are encouraged to bring in NEW and UNWRAPPED gifts between now and December 14th. Donations can be dropped off in the grade-level bins in the library — and everything that’s collected will be given to Arlington County children in need this holiday season.
    .
  • And to make things even more interesting — there will be a little competition between grade-levels. Every TA in the grade that donates the MOST TOYS will be entered into a raffle to receive a special token of gratitude. So PLEASE, bring in a gift — or three — and help to make a HUGE difference for the children of Arlington! See Ms. Schaefer, Ms. Zeller or Mr. Johnson with any questions. Spread kindness where you may, and donate to the Toy Drive TODAY!!
    .
  • Get ready for a BOOK BONANZA! The Academic Book Fair is coming to WMS — from December 5th to 12th in the library. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will all have a chance to visit with their English classes — but anyone is welcome to stop by from Monday to Friday either before school or during your lunch period. Plus, the fair will also be open late-night this THURSDAY and next TUESDAY to coincide with the Winter Concerts.  So don’t forget to bring your money — and go get yourself a good book!
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!!  Congratulations to the boys Basketball team, who secured another victory on Thursday against the Gunston Hornets — 40 to 25. 8th grader Chris R. tallied a game-high 11 points in the game — closely followed by fellow 8th grader James Y. with 10.  Stellar second-half defense by the Wolves — who are now 4-0 on the season.  Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap]

  • Did you miss Picture Day last month — or did your picture not turn out so well? Then you’re in luck — because “Picture Make-Up Day” is this TUESDAY in the Auditorium from 8 to 11 a.m. Here’s what to do: if you haven’t taken a picture yet this year, all you have to do is show up. OR if you’d like a NEW picture, then you must bring your unwanted picture packet with you to exchange. And remember — if you don’t take a picture, then you WON’T be included in the WMS yearbook. See Ms. Argenal in the main office with any questions. Say cheese!
    .
  • Attention MUNners!!  Help is needed to prepare for the upcoming WOLFMUN Conference — this TUESDAY and FRIDAY during ASP 1. And then on THURSDAY — there will be an important meeting for conference participants and Chairs.  See Mr. Carlson for more information, or with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all actors, singers, and technicians! Auditions for the WMS Spring Musical — Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland, Jr.” — will take place in the auditorium on THURSDAY, December 13th during ASP 1 and 2; and again on MONDAY, December 17th during ASP 1 only. Interested performers should prepare three things — the song “Happy Birthday”, a short nursery rhyme, and another song of YOUR CHOICE that highlights YOUR VOICE. See Mr. Brown with any questions. Break a leg!
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
    .
  • It’s officially the “cold and flu” season — and trust me, you DON’T want to get sick.  Today, WMS will be providing flu shots for students and teachers who signed-up last month.  As a result, there will be several interruptions during periods 1 through 3 to call students to the auditorium. Thanks for understanding — and stay well, Williamsburg!
