  • By now, everyone should have received their 1st Day Packets in TA.  Students are reminded to get all those forms filled-out and returned by the end-of-the-week. And don’t forget your 7-dollars for your agenda!
    .
  • And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Solomon!  If you are having any problems with your school-issued iPad — whether it’s password problems, not connecting to the internet, glitching apps, cracked screens, or ANYTHING else — please submit the online “Student Tech. Help Request” form through the WMS website.  Ms. Solomon’s got the solution! So submit today — and get yourself back online.
    .
  • And now for some important announcements about WMS athletics! ULTIMATE FRISBEE is getting ready to go. The GIRLS Ultimate season will be first to play this year. Interested female athletes are invited to the first practice next MONDAY, September 10th in the WMS gym. All ability levels are welcome, whether you’re a first-timer or a National Champion! See Mr. Smolinski with any questions. Let’s play!
    .
  • GOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL! The Soccer World Cup was one for the ages this summer — with France winning the championship in Russia. And now — it’s time to play in Arlington. The WMS boys soccer team is recruiting new players for the new season. Interested boys should sign-up on the Activities Board by the cafeteria. The tryout schedule begins next MONDAY for 6th graders; TUESDAY for 7th; and THURSDAY for 8th — all on the turf fields from 2:30 to 4. Come dressed and ready to play! See Mr. Witte with any questions.
    .
  • Serve, volley, overhead SMASH! The WMS Tennis Team is also getting into the “swing.” Tryouts for boys AND girls begin next week — 8th graders on MONDAY; 7th graders on TUESDAY; and 6th graders on THURSDAY. Interested athletes should meet at the bus loop each day after school, where the team bus will transport you to the Yorktown tennis courts. Be sure to bring your racket — and a can of balls if you have one. And if anyone is UNABLE to attend your scheduled tryout day — please contact the coach, Mr. Seeger, about rescheduling.
    .
  • And a reminder for all athletes — and all sports. You MUST have a current physical on file to participate in after-school athletics. This is NON-NEGOTIABLE. For more information about getting a physical, see your coach, the school nurse, or the Activities coordinator — Ms. Hogwood.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.

Until next time: The weather is HOT, but school is COOL!!
