    .
  • And there’s ANOTHER high school opportunity that you should know about.  This morning, representatives from Arlington Tech will be hosting an informational meeting for ALL 8th graders in the WMS auditorium during Wolf Time.  Located at the Arlington Career Center, Arlington Tech uses project-based learning and problem-solving to prepare its students for the highest levels of success in college and the workplace. Again, 8th graders should proceed to the Arlington Tech assembly immediately following the Morning Announcements.
    .
  • Attention all students who signed up for the ACT 2 Art Class this semester.  Please meet with Ms. Hogwood in the cafeteria today during your grade-level lunch.  You need to do two things — first, make sure you’re on the ACT 2 Art list; and second, confirm that you WILL be starting the class on October 4th.  Again, see Ms. Hogwood in the cafeteria.
    .
  • The WMS tennis team will be practicing on MONDAY after school.  Just meet at the bus loop for the walk over to Yorktown — and get ready for the big match-up with Kenmore on Tuesday!
    .
  • And now for a Technology Tip from Ms. Solomon: All students, LISTEN UP!!! Do NOT upgrade your iPads to iOS 12.0. Again — DON’T upgrade your iPad with the new operating system. It has NOT been approved by APS, and could cause problems with the network and testing. If you do upgrade to 12.0, your iPad will need to be wiped. See Ms. Solomon with any questions.
    .
  • And finally — an important announcement from the WMS administration team.  It’s Friday, and some of you may be planning to hit the Lee-Harrison Shopping Center after school today.  This is a reminder that being a good neighbor and respecting others is BIG part of what we need to do to be good citizens — whether you’re here in school, or out in the community.
    .
We’ve all heard the reports of “young people behaving badly” at Lee-Harrison this month — and that will NOT continue.  Inappropriate language, rough housing, littering — these behaviors are unacceptable, and YOU can do better.  Make good decision, and act responsibly.  Remember — Respect Yourself, Respect Others, and Respect our Shared Environment!

ANCHOR: And now — Fall is here.. and that means FOOTBALL season is upon us. So let’s go to WOLF-TV’s resident football fanatic, Daniel S., for a preview of this weekend’s matchups. Take it away, Danny-Boy!

DANNY-BOY: Hello Williamsburg, I am Daniel Sennott and this is Strictly Football. Today, we’re previewing and predicting some of this week’s biggest football games — so listen to me and you’ll clean-up in your fantasy football league.
.

Let’s start with college  In my EXPERT opinion, the biggest game is this Saturday’s matchup between #9 Penn State and #4 Ohio State.  Over 100-THOUSAND people will pack stadium at State College to see this battle of the best.
.

These teams have had some classic matchups in the past:  like in 2016 when then-unranked Penn State shocked the #2 Buckeyes 24-21 on an improbable blocked field goal returned for a touchdown.
.

The Buckeyes are favored by 3 points over the Nittany Lions in this top 10 matchup, and I’m going with the odds.  Ohio State for the win!
.

Another big game:  #7 Stanford travels to South Bend to take on #8 Notre Dame. I’m taking the Fighting Irish, favored by 4.5 points. I think Stanford might be drained, coming off a comeback, overtime win over Oregon last week.
.

And now — let’s go to the pros!!  It’s Week 4 of the NFL season — and we’re talking RIVALRIES!  The Baltimore Ravens throwing down against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.  Sorry, Steeler-nation, but I’m taking the Ravens to win — outright! Baltimore’s defense is just too good — and their offense will do just enough to win.
.

Finally, let’s take a look at some lovable losers.  The Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns — 2 last place teams, playing for bragging rights.  I’m taking the Raiders minus 2.5 to win, because, well, why not? Somebody’s gotta win?
.

Alright, football fans, that’s Strictly Football for this week.  I’m Daniel, and I’ll see you on the gridiron!
.

ANCHOR:  Thanks, Daniel!  And now, let’s take a look at your local weather with our very own WOLF-TV weatherman — Lightning Luke!!  What’s it look like outside today, Luke?
.

LIGHTNING:  What’s up, Williamsburg? It’s FRIDAY, September 28th.  I’m Luke Aslaksen. Welcome to “Wolf Weather” on Wolf-TV! We’ve got the latest scoop on what Mother Nature’s got in store.  So let’s “take the temperature” on this week’s weather.
.

The weather today is MOSTLY CLOUDY with a high of 76 degrees.  A bit cooler tonight at 62. And that’s gonna hold steady for most of the weekend.  Clouds on Saturday and Sunday, with maybe a bit of sun peaking through. Thankfully, precipitation levels are low, so we should FINALLY be getting a break from this wet weather.  Who knows, maybe Arlington County won’t close the fields this weekend!
.

And if we do get a break in the weather, this weekend might also be the perfect time to get outside and go into the city! The D.C. United is taking on the Montreal Impact on Saturday at 7:00 P.M. for a spot in the playoffs. It’s an event that you won’t want to miss!
.

Well, that’s it for WOLF WEATHER on WOLF-TV.  I’m Luke Aslaksen, and remember — it’s always calmest before the storm – so don’t forget your umbrella!
