  • And finally, March is Women’s History Month — an opportunity to explore the amazing contributions made by WOMEN that helped to shape the world we live in.
    Women's History -- Jerri Cobb 1.
Meet Geraldyn “Jerrie” Cobb, the first of 13-women to pass the astronaut test in 1961!  They became known as the Mercury 13.  However, regulations at that time FORBADE women from joining the space program — and even Astronaut John Glenn refused to support their inclusion.
    .
But “Jerrie” was undeterred.  She went on to fly HUNDREDS of humanitarian missions in the Amazon Jungle, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and was enshrined in the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
    Women's History -- Jerri Cobb 2.
Her efforts led the way for the eventual INCLUSION of women astronauts at NASA — and to date, 72 women have travelled to the stars.  Jerrie Cobb’s history — and WOMEN’S history — is American History.
