  • Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.

  • Before we leave for Spring Break this afternoon, there’s something we need to do this morning — it’s time for Locker Clean-up Day!! Immediately following the Morning Announcements, all students should check their lockers for anything that can be taken home or thrown away.  Most importantly, we need to make sure that there is NO FOOD left in your locker over Spring Break. We don’t want to get ants!  Once again, Locker Clean-Up Day will begin following the Morning Announcements.

  • 2023 March Madness Tournament of Books -- Hunger Games wins! The votes are in — and we have our CHAMPION for the 7th annual March Madness Tournament of Books!  The winner is:  The Hunger Games!!
    .
We actually have TWO winning TAs who picked the perfect bracket:  congratulations to Ms. Rankin’s TA and Ms. Young’s TA!  There will be a net cutting ceremony on the first day back from Spring Break.  Thanks to everyone for participating in the Tournament of Books, and thanks for supporting your WMS Library!!
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!!  The WMS Track and Field opened its season at home yesterday by shellacking Kenmore Middle School — 137 to 35.  It was a dominant team effort from start to finish.
    .
WMS swept all 10 events — led by 8th grader Mila F, who won the 70-meter dash in 9.71 seconds for the fastest time of the day for the girls AND boys. She also won the girls high jump! And props to the entire distance team for sweeping the boys and girls 600-meter and 800-meter! Way to go, running Wolves!!

  • And finally, the REAL March Madness is also getting intense.
    .
Student reporter Gray H. is here with the latest on the NCAA tournament.  Take it away, Gray!
    .
  • GRAY:  Hello sports fans! I’m Gray and I’m MAD for March Madness!!  It’s been a CRAZY week in the NCAA tournament.  All of the number 1 seeds were eliminated in the men’s draw – the first time in HISTORY that no number one has made it to the Elite Eight.  The field that started at 68 has now been whittled down to the Final Four.

    .
In the Men’s draw, it’s 5-seed San Diego St vs 9-seed FAU; and 5-seed Miami vs 4-seed UCONN. For San Diego, FAU, and Miami – it’s their first time EVER making the Final Four.  But UCONN has a ton of experience – having previously won the National Championship THREE TIMES.

In the women’s draw, it’s  1-seed South Carolina vs 2-seed Iowa; and 1-seed Virginia Tech vs. 3-seed LSU.

    .
But all eyes are on Iowa Guard Caitlin Clark, who turned in an historic performance against Louisville in the Elite Eight – dropping 41 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds and registering the first 40 point triple-double in WNCAA history! What’s she going to do for an encore?  You’ll have to watch to find out.

The Final Four will be played this weekend. Then the men’s Championship is on April 3rd, and the women’s Championship is April 2nd.  It’s anybody’s game. We’ll be back after Spring Break with the CHAMPIONSHIP WRAP-UP! Once again, I am Gray and I am MAD for March Madness.
