- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - 7th and 8th graders! This is another reminder that your semester-long elective classes begin TODAY. Be sure to check your new room locations — or see your grade-level counselor with any questions. Again, new semester-long classes begin this week.
. - This next announcement is for ALL students in ALL grades — so listen up! Everyone in Health & PE will be completing an online survey during class today. Students are asked to report to the AUDITORIUM for the survey — and to sit with your class. Again, Health and PE will be meeting in the auditorium today to complete a survey with your iPads. See Ms. Szwed with any questions.
. - The ACT 2 Inventions class is scheduled to begin TODAY in room 129. Everyone who signed-up — and anyone else who might still like to sign up — should see Mr. Dudek for more information.
. - Attention all musical theatre wolves! Auditions for this year’s Spring musical — Mary Poppins, Jr. — continue TODAY during ASP 1 and 2 in the auditorium. Performers should be prepared to sing a song — even “Happy Birthday” would be just fine — and recite a nursery rhyme as part of your audition. And even if you don’t want to perform ON stage — the production needs plenty of “backstage” help, too! Stage crew sign-ups will also take place after school. See Mr. Brown with any questions — and break a leg!!
. - Hey, 7th graders! How would YOU like to be on the Yearbook Staff next year? The WMS Yearbook is now accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year. This select group of students uses photography and graphic design to make a keepsake for the ages. But space is limited! To apply, first select Yearbook on your CRF — and then pick up an application from Mr. Schonfeld in the Library Classroom. Applications must be completed and returned by February 21st to be considered. The WMS Yearbook — Be a Part of the Pride!!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE! We begin with the WMS boys basketball team who remained undefeated on the season with a big win on the road over Kenmore Middle School last Thursday — 40-34. The Wolves used a stingy defense to overcome an early deficit — then took the lead for good in the second quarter. 8th graders John T. and Buddy S. led all scorers — but this was truly a team win. Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap]. WMS looks to keep the winning streak alive TODAY in the WMS gym against Gunston — who is also undefeated this year. It’s gonna be a great game, so come on down and let’s cheer the wolves to victory!!
. - Wolf Pack Pride continues with the WMS wrestling team — who scored their first team win of the year last Thursday at home against Kenmore. 7th graders Braedon M., Coleman D., Charles C., and Matt C. all earned a victory in their matches — and the entire team showed incredible improvement. Way to go, wrestling wolves! [clap]. WMS will go for 2-in-a-row when they match up against Swanson this Thursday.
. - And now for a technology tip from Ms. Solomon! If the home page in your Canvas app is BLANK or just isn’t working — here’s a quick fix. Go to the Settings app on your iPad, swipe down and tap “Student”, then toggle the “Reset cache on next launch” button. Finally, re-open the Canvas app — Search for Arlington Public Schools-Student, and log log back in. The home page SHOULD start working again. If not — or if you have any other problems — please submit a Tech-Help Request form. And remember — Ms. Solomon’s got the solution!
. - And speaking of Canvas — all APS schools have been using the Canvas educational platform for the past 2-years now… and there have been a few glitches along the way. Student-reporter Sam W. has more about this Canvas Controversy.
