Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — plus Wolf Time — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.

Calling all athletes!! It may still feel like winter outside, but the Spring sports season is coming soon! The Swim team and Dive team both begin on February 24th, and the Track and Field team begins on March 10th. But to participate, you MUST submit your sports physical form to the yellow mailbox outside of the Activities office. See Ms. Hogwood with any other questions about Spring sports.

February is Black History Month — a time to celebrate the many contributions that African Americans have made to this country,

As part of our celebration, WMS is hosting a special Black History Month Tasting Event TODAY during all grade level-lunches. A selection of “soul food” desserts has been prepared by Chef Randolph from the Arlington Career Center, and her students. So make sure you go to the cafeteria for lunch today to get your special treats!

And now, it’s time for “Black History Month — That’s a FACT!!”

Today’s fact is about Dorothy Hamm — not the Middle School up the road, but the real person that it’s named after! Dorothy Hamm was a Civil Rights leader and social activist who worked to desegregate public schools in Virginia. Thanks to her efforts, black students in this state were allowed to attend “white schools” starting in 1959. She also fought for voting rights and economic justice. And That’s a Fact!!

And finally — WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!! The WMS girl’s basketball team had a season for the ages this year.
