- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — plus Wolf Time — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - Turn off your screen, and pick up a BOOK, because it’s time for WMS READS! Today during Wolf Time, students will have the entire period to read a book of their choice. And if you don’t have anything to read, just head over to the library. Our librarians will help you find the best book for YOU. Happy reading!!
. - Up next, our school is kicking-off a big donation drive this week — and we need your help!
.
Sixth grader Lexi C. is here to tell you all about it.
.
Take it away, Lexi!

- LEXI: Give a helping hand to those in need! Hello, Wolf Pack! My name is Lexi, and I’m a member of the Helping Hands Club here at WMS. This week, we’re launching a Food Drive to support the Arlington Food Assistance Center.
.
From now through February 19th, students are encouraged to donate canned goods and pantry items to the collection bins located in each grade-level hallway. Your donations will help so many deserving families here in our community.
.
But wait — there’s MORE! Whichever grade donates the most food will get a POPSICLE PARTY! So you can help people AND get a sweet treat. What could be better than that?!
.
So show your donation domination, and thanks for supporting the Helping Hands Food Drive!

- And now — back to the news. It’s Kindness Week here at WMS. And our theme is: ‘Make Kindness the Norm’. Today’s goal is to include someone new. Whether it’s in the cafeteria or during group work, make sure everyone feels welcome and included. Small acts, big impact!
. - Calling all artists! WMS has an afterschool art course that is open to all grade levels. The first class is TODAY in room 127 during ASP 1 and 2 — and continues every Thursday through the second semester. Interested artists are welcome to attend! See Mr. Skrzypek or Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!! Last Thursday, the WMS wrestling team took on Dorothy Hamm Middle School — but lost a heart-breaker: 33 to 39.
.
Big props to 8th grader Joel R. and 7th grader Rory C. — who each won their match with a big pin. And to the entire team for giving everything they had. Way to go, wrestling wolves!! [clap]
. - And now it’s time for Black History Month TRIVIA. Listen closely, because we’ll be testing you on these at the end of the month. And whichever grade gets the most correct answers will earn bonus points for the WMS Pep Rally this Spring. Here we go!
.
In 1968, Democrat Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress. But that’s not all! In 1972, Shirley Chisholm also became the first Black woman to officially run for U.S. President from a major political party.
. - What’s that buzz? It’s the WMS Geo Bee! Our resident geographer, Mr. McDermott, is here to tell us all about it.
