  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Girls Basketball Team kicked off their season with a big win over Kenmore on the road yesterday — 32 to 16.  It was close the whole game, but the Wolves caught fire in the 4th quarter and sealed the deal.  Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap].

  • The WMS Debate Team will be holding TWO important practices this week — THURSDAY and FRIDAY during ASP 1 in room 1A6.  Participants will be preparing for the upcoming tournament, so don’t miss it!  Debaters may also go to Ms. Jones for additional help with their cases any day this week during 7th grade lunch.
    .
  • Sister Circle will be meeting on THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 233. Come out for a little Girl Talk — and a lot of fun activities! See Ms. Cameron with any questions.
    .
  • The next meeting for “Latinas Leading Tomorrow” will be on THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 214. This week’s focus will be learning leadership skills — both in the classroom, and in the community.  See Ms. Winters with any questions.
    .
  • Hey, big talker!  The WMS Speech team will be holding an informational meeting this THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 1A6.  Categories include: dramatic performance, duo performance, reciting a famous speech, impromptu speaking, and much more.  This is your chance to be HEARD!  See Ms. Jones for more information.
    .
  • The Best Buddies Club will be meeting this FRIDAY during WOLF TIME in the cafeteria. Members and allies are invited to come make friends — and make a difference with some amazing kids. But please be aware that in order to participate, you MUST get a pass beforehand from Ms. Rogers in room 108.  Thanks, Buddy!!
    .
  • Who wants pizza?? The Model UN Club will be selling pizza and cookies this FRIDAY — right after school by the cafeteria and in the main lobby.  It’s just 2-dollars, and all money raised will go to support the upcoming WOLFMUN conference and other Model UN activities.  Come hungry!

  • How many pairs of ratty old sneakers do you have lying around the house? Well, don’t throw them away — because they could help to SAVE THE WORLD!! You heard right: the WMS Earth Club is collecting tennis shoes for a recycling drive — to keep them out of landfills and to protect our environment. Just drop off your unwanted sneakers in one of the bins next to the cafeteria or the main entrance. Shoes will be collected through this FRIDAY.  So do what you do, and reuse a shoe!!
    .
  • Did you know that burning fossil fuels is a major contributor to global warming — which could potentially lead to an environmental disaster? Ms. Carlson’s “Wolf Time Class” is seeking to raise awareness about this and many other threats to our shared environment. So as you’re walking through the halls this month, be sure to take a look at the posters and reminders about global warming, species endangerment, and recycling. Don’t be mean — keep our planet happy and clean!
    .
  • And finally today, the WMS Kindness Club needs your help!  Puerto Rico was ravaged by a historic hurricane this fall, and its people are still struggling to rebuild.  But WE can make a difference.  This week, the Kindness Club is launching a Penny’s for Puerto Rico Fundraiser.  And to make it a little more interesting, each grade level will compete to see who can collect — not the most money — but the most “positive points.”
    .
Here’s how it works:  for every penny in your grade level jug, you get a POSITIVE point.  But for every silver coin or dollar bill in your jug, you get a NEGATIVE point.  In other words, if an 8th grader puts a nickel in the 7th grade jug, then the 7th grade would LOSE a point.  So no matter which grade gets the most points, Puerto Rico still wins!  The competition will run all month long — so break out your piggy bank and let’s see who can make the most change for Puerto Rico!  See Ms. Schaefer, Mr. Johnson, or Ms. Zeller with any questions.
