- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - And now, we’d like to welcome a pair of special guests to the WOLF-TV studio — to continue our celebration of KINDNESS WEEK at WMS. Everyone say HELLO to Ms. Boyers and Ms. Cameron!!!
. - BOYERS: Good morning, Williamsburg! I’m Ms. Boyers, your 6th grade counselor.
.
CAMERON: And I’m Ms. Cameron, your Equity and Excellence Coordinator. As we continue our celebration of Kindness Week here at WMS, it’s important to recognize that each of us is a unique individual.
.
BOYERS: That’s right! No two people are exactly alike. And here in our shared community, we believe that it’s our differences that actually make us SPECIAL — and that those differences should be CELEBRATED.
.
CAMERON: “Celebrating Differences” means seeing — and accepting — other people for who they are. We don’t just tolerate one another — instead, we embrace the rich diversity that each individual contributes to society.
.
BOYERS: When we encouter diversity in our community — it’s a chance for us to branch out, to learn about the many people and cultures that surround us everyday, to make everyone feel welcome — and included.
.
CAMERON: We celebrate differences in age, ethnicity, class, gender, and gender expression.
.
BOYERS: We celebrate differences in physical ability, religion, and sexual orientation.
.
CAMERON: We celebrate differences in education, geography, income, marital status, parental status, and work experience.
.
BOYERS: And we acknowledge that all of these differences are FLUID — that over time, we have the ability to change, to grow, and to self-identify.
.
CAMERON: And most importantly, we recognize that no one culture — no one “type” — is instrinsically superior to another. We are who we are — and that’s a good thing.
.
BOYERS: So forget the idea of “normal” versus “different.” Because we’re ALL different…
.
BOTH: And we’re all a Part of the Pride!!
. - Thanks, Ms. Boyers and Ms. Cameron! And speaking of kindness, don’t miss the next Kindness Club meeting scheduled for next MONDAY during ASP 1 in room 136. Participants will be working on the next Kindness campaign to enrich our shared community. Plus, the Kindness Club will be getting its picture taken for the WMS Yearbook on Monday — so don’t be late! See Ms. Pugliese, Ms. Briones, and Mr. G. with any questions.
. - Did you miss Picture Day last month — or did your picture not turn out so well? Then you’re in luck — because “Picture Make-Up Day” is coming soon! On Tuesday, December 3rd, picture retakes will be taken in the Auxiliary Gym — 8th graders during TA; and 7th and 6th graders during their Wolf Time periods. If it’s your first school picture, just go on down. But if it’s a retake, then you must bring your unwanted picture packet with you to exchange. And remember — if you don’t take a picture, then you WON’T be included in the WMS yearbook. See Ms. Wielechowski in the main office with any questions. Say cheese!
. - This is a reminder to all ACT 2 chorus participants — there is NO rehearsal after school today. Once again — ACT 2 chorus is CANCELLED this afternoon. See Ms. McTavish when she returns on MONDAY if you have any questions.
. - The Technology Student Association — aka the TSA — and the Wolfbots Robotics Club will NOT be meeting today or next week. Meeting will resume in December following the Thanksgiving break. Once again, both the TSA and Wolfbots meetings are CANCELLED. See Mr. Dudek with any questions.
. - The Best Buddies Club will be hosting its next meeting this FRIDAY morning during TA in room 108. Participating students should check-in with your TA teacher first — then come on down and join in the fun. See Ms. Parris with any questions. Thanks, Buddy!!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!! The WMS boys soccer team traveled to Kenmore Middle School on Tuesday. They played another great game — earning their second shutout in a row! Unfortunately, despite many close shots, they couldn’t quite break through — and had to settle for a tie — zero to zero. Big props to goalies Garret W. and Ian M. for keeping it scoreless — and to the entire defensive line for shutting it down. Way to go, soccer wolves!!
. - Wolf Pack Pride continues with the 2019 PTA Reflections Contest! We’ve got some more winners to share with your today — in the category of PHOTOGRAPHY!
