  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Tennis Team brought the THUNDER at the Stockard Championship Singles Tournament on Tuesday.  On the boys side, it was an all Williamsburg final — with 8th graders Drew W. and Dominick S. squaring-off for the title.  After a hard-fought match, it was Dominick S. taking the win — and the Championship.  Great game, and way to wolves! [clap]
    .
And on the girls side, a pair of 6th graders put on an amazing show!  Eleni G. made it to the semi-finals, and Jacklynka S. got all the way to the final game before dropping a heartbreaker.  Way to play, wolves!  [clap]  Congratulations to the whole team for an amazing season.  Players are invited to an end of the year pizza party TODAY during ASP 1 in Mr. Seeger’s room.  Be sure to bring your “clean” WMS tennis shirt, and a few bucks for pizza.
    .
  • The WMS girls soccer team also wrapped up their season with a 0 – 0 TIE against Swanson on Tuesday.  Goalies Celeste G. and Zoe F. teamed-up for the shutout.  And with that, the Wolves guaranteed their 2nd consecutive undefeated season — AND  second consecutive COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP!!  Way to go, soccer wolves!! We are the champions!!!  [clap]
    .
  • The Arlington Tech Tour for interested 8th graders is scheduled for TODAY!  If you signed up, please report to the cafeteria at 9:15 this morning for the ride over — and you may NOT bring your backpacks, so store them in your locker beforehand.  Participants will return to WMS around 11:30.
    .
  • Sister Circle will be meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 233.  Members and allies are asked to get there ASAP — as there is a LOT to discuss this week.  See Ms. Cameron with any questions.
    .
  • Due to the AMAZING turnout last week, the Best Buddies meeting for FRIDAY has been moved to the cafeteria during Wolf Time.  Just get a pass from your TA teacher, then come on down and join the fun and games. See Ms. Rogers with any questions. Thanks, Buddy!!
    .
  • The WMS-PTA Book Fair is scheduled to begin next week. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will all have a chance to visit with their English classes — but anyone is welcome to stop by from Monday to Friday either before school or during your lunch period.  Plus on Thursday, your parents are invited to the “after-hours” Book Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. So don’t forget to bring your money — and get yourself a good book!
    .
  • Students rule the school! The WMS Student Council Association — our SCA — is recruiting 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to take leadership positions in school this year. Interested students are invited to an informational meeting next TUESDAY during ASP 1 in room 215.  This is your chance to help “Create the Future” right here at Williamsburg.  See Mr. Tagert or Mr. Peacock with any questions.
    .
  • And now for a Technology Tip from Ms. Solomon: Your student iPads MUST be set with a passcode on the homescreen. A passcode provides basic security, and ensures that your APS Google files, StudentVue app, and personal items remain safe, private and secure. So set up your passcode TODAY!!
    .
  • Calling all dancers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and visual artists! Put your creative genius to the test in the annual “PTA Reflections” contest. This year’s theme is: “Within Reach.” Just get a submission form and turn-in your entry to the “Reflections” box in the library by this FRIDAY.
    .
  • Dribble, pass, SHOOT! Tryouts for the WMS Boys soccer team will be “kicking-off” this week. Here’s the breakdown: 6th graders tryout TODAY, then 7th graders on MONDAY, and 8th graders on TUESDAY — all during ASP 1 and 2 on Field number 2. Just sign up on the activity board by the cafeteria, and you must have a physical on file to participate.  See Mr. Witte with any questions.
    .
  • The WMS Girls Basketball Team is also gearing up for a new season. Tryouts begin next MONDAY after school in the gym.  The sign-up sheet is on the activity board by the cafeteria, and again you must have a physical on file to participate.  See Ms. Boyers or Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
    .
  • How would you like to be featured in a special section of the yearbook this year? From now until the end of October, the WMS yearbook is accepting pictures for both its “Summer Vacation” and “Now & Then” sections of its annual publication. If you’ve got some fun pics, just email them to elizabeth.briones@apsva.us or bring them down to room 136. See Ms. Briones with any questions.
