- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — plus Wolf Time — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - Attention all PE students! Please bring your iPad to PE this week for a special health presentation from your grade level counselor. Once again, all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders need to bring their iPads to PE this week.
. - The WMS Anime Club is scheduled to meet TODAY during ASP 1 in room 109. Participants will begin designing their club T-shirts — and the winning design will win a prize! . - Bonjour!! The WMS French Club will be hosting its first meeting of the year — this THURSDAY during ASP 1 in Room 220. See Ms. McNeese with any questions. Merci Beaucoup!!
. - I hope you’ve been on your best behavior lately, because Parent-Teacher Conferences are THIS WEEK — THURSDAY from 4:30 to 7:30pm; and FRIDAY from 8 to 11:30am Conferences will be conducted “Arena Style” — so tell your families that no appointment is necessary. Just come on in and have a chat! Parents and teachers together — what could be better than that?!
. - Brush your hair, wash your face, and smile for the camera! SCHOOL PICTURE DAY is NEXT WEEK — scheduled for October 15th and 16th in the gym during all PE classes. . - Does anybody want a WOLF PAW??? Then this story is for YOU!! The Family and Consumer Science class is collecting empty cereal boxes, newspapers, old t-shirts, and coffee filters for an upcoming sustainability project. If you donate any of these items, the FACS teacher — Ms. McFarren — will reward you with a WOLF PAW! This offer is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Please bring your donations to room 128 by this THURSDAY, and thanks for your support, Wolves!!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!! The WMS Girls Soccer team kept their undefeated season alive — and moved one step closer to a County Championship — with a thrilling 1 to zero win over rival Dorothy Hamm yesterday.
.
Big props to our goalie, 8th grader Lily P., for the shut out; and to 7th grader Eden L. for scoring the winning goal. Way to go, soccer wolves!! [clap]
. - October is National Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month. The purpose is to educate our community about this important issue — and to teach effective strategies in response to bullying.
.
Today’s bullying prevention topic is “What Can You Do?” And the answer is: A LOT!! Bullying doesn’t just happen in private — in fact, it happens in the hall, in class, in the lunch room, and on the playing field just to name a few. And there are almost always BYSTANDERS watching it happen.
.
But bystanders can be POWERFUL. According to studies, more than half of all bullying situations WILL END if bystanders simply stand up and say STOP. Or if it’s unsafe to step in — SOUND THE ALARM! Make sure an adult knows what’s happening — and make sure the bullied student knows that you care.
.
If you, or someone you know, is struggling with bullying, please be an UPSTANDER — not a BYSTANDER. Tell your teacher, a counselor, an administrator, or another trusted adult. Together, we can stand up to bullies!
