  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  When disaster strikes, it’s up to EVERYONE in our community to come together and help those in need.  And following the recent landfall of Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael, the students here at Williamsburg have stepped-up in a BIG way.
    .
Here to tell us more about it is WMS Counselor — Ms. Schaefer!
    .
  • SCHAEFER:  Hi there, everybody!  It’s me, Ms. Schaefer, and today I’m here with an update on the Hurricane Relief Fundraiser sponsored by the WMS Kindness Club.
    .
As of yesterday, we’ve raised a grand total of 592-dollars and 52-cents. It’s a TREMENDOUS total for the first week, and I’m certain that together we can collect even more. All money raised will go to help victims of Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael — and EVERY penny counts.
    .
Big props to the 7th grade for tallying the largest amount so far — roughly 275-dollars worth — while the 6th and 8th grades have each raised about 160-dollars.  Remember, whichever grade raises the most money will be entered into a TA drawing for a special prize.
    .
So keep those donations coming all next week.  Donation boxes are available in each grade-level holding area before school.  “We’re happy to get the kind of money that jingles, but we’d rather get the kind that folds.”
    .
Now do your part for Hurricane Relief — and BE A PART OF THE PRIDE!!
    .
  • Thanks Ms. Schaefer!  Want to know what else you can do to help Hurricane Relief? EAT MORE CAKE! You heard me right. The WMS Check-In Program will be holding a Hurricane Relief Bake Sale TO  after school, located in the main lobby and by the cafeteria. All items are just a buck-or-two — and all money raised will be added to our Hurricane Relief Fundraiser total. It’s “sweet relief” for the Hurricane!!
    .
  • Wolf Pack Pride continues with some “kickin'” sports news — The Boys Soccer Team wrapped-up its season with a BIG win over Jefferson yesterday — by a score of 3 to 2.  With the victory, WMS can proudly say that it beat EVERY team in the county this year.  Big props to 8th graders Griffin L. and Luke F. for nailing the first two goals — and our very own Taha O. for netting the game winner.  Great game, and great season by the ENTIRE team.  Way to go, soccer wolves!! [clap]
    .
  • Attention 8th graders! Next week, ALL 8th graders will be visiting the Arlington Career Center. These tours are NOT just for students who plan to apply to Arlington Tech. Many of you will take courses at the Career Center while in high school, and this is your chance to see everything it has to offer. Permission slips MUST be turned-in ASAP — or you WILL get a call home!!  See Ms. Boyers in the main office with any questions.
    .
  • And now — we’ve got something SPECIAL for you coming up next week.  There are over 13-HUNDRED students here at WMS, but how many of them do you really know?  Next TUESDAY, our school will be participating in an INTERNATIONAL program to help kids meet new people, make new friends, and MIX IT UP!!
  • Lace ’em up, Wolf Pack!  It’s time to start the 2018 Girls Soccer Season!!  Tryouts will run all next week — 6th graders on MONDAY, 7th graders on TUESDAY, and 8th graders on THURSDAY — all from 2:50 to 4 on the turf field.  Athletes MUST have a physical on file to participate.  See Mr. Girard with any questions.
    .
  • Listen up, ballers!!  Boys Basketball is set to begin!  Tryouts for all grade-levels “tip-off” on MONDAY of next week during ASP 1 and 2 in the main gym.  Athletes MUST have a physical on file to participate. See Mr. Johnson with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all theater-lovers! It’s time to choose the WMS Musical for this year! Interested actors, singers, and dancers are invited to the “selection” meeting next MONDAY during ASP 1 in the auditorium. See Mr. Brown with any questions.
    .
  • Attention 6th and 7th graders — It’s time to GET DOWN and BOOOOOOOO-gie!   Just in time for Halloween, the WMS Spook-tacular Skeleton Stomp is coming at you — courtesy of the WMS PTA.  The 7th grade party is scheduled for TUESDAY, October 23rd; and the 6th grade party is one week later, TUESDAY, October 30th — both during ASP 1 and 2 in the cafeteria — so you can still take the late bus home. There will be food, a DJ and dancing, games, raffles, prizes and more. And please — despite the Halloween theme — NO COSTUMES.
    .
  • Put your creative genius to the test! The annual PTA Reflections Contest is now accepting submissions from all grade-level students. This year’s theme is: “Heroes Around Me.” Projects can include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. Submission forms can be found in the WMS Library, and projects must be received by October 25th. Now go create something awesome!!
    .
  • Want to make new friends, play some smooth music, and have a swingin’ time?! Then join the WMS Jazz Band Club! Meetings — also known as “Jam Sessions” — begin November 1st, and will continue every THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 225. All instruments are welcome — including guitar and bass players. Just sign-up on the activity board by the cafeteria, or go to the Jazz Club page on the WMS website for more information and to contact the band leader, Mr. Wilkin
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
