Calling all basket-ballers!! Tryouts for the WMS Boys Basketball team begin TODAY after school. Interested players MUST sign-up using the QR codes outside of the Activities Office. And don’t forget that you need a current physical on file in order to participate. See Coach Clark for more information about boys basketball. And if you have any questions for Ms. Hogwood about physicals, you must contact her BEFORE 11am today.

Who’s hungry??? The WMS PTA is teaming up with Sloppy Mama’s for a Spirit Night Fundraiser this Wednesday. Either order in person or use the code “Williamsburg PTA” when ordering online — and 15-percent of the cost will be donated to support our school! So get some delicious barbecue, AND give to a good cause. Bon appetit!

The WMS Best Buddies Club is preparing for a new year! This inspirational club promotes inclusion and connection between students with and without disabilities. And you can make some GREAT new friends in the process. The first Best Buddies meeting will be this FRIDAY, October 17th during TA. To participate, please write your name, grade, and TA teacher on a piece of paper and place it in the box now located in the cafeteria. Thanks, Buddy!

Put your creative genius to the test! The annual PTA Reflections Contest is now accepting submissions from all grade-level students. This year’s theme is: “I Belong!” Projects can include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To show our support, we’re raising money with a “Pie the Teacher” contest! And YOU get to choose who it’s gonna be! Three brave teachers from each grade have volunteered. And whichever teacher raises the most money during lunch this month will get pied on October 30th. So let’s come together as a community, have some fun, and support Breast Cancer Awareness. Thanks for your help, wolves!!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. And today’s topic is: Choose Respect. Imagine a school where EVERYONE was treated with respect. Where EVERYONE was made to feel welcome. And EVERYONE was valued. WMS can be that place. Respect ENDS bullying.

So if you, or someone you know, is struggling with bullying, please be an UPSTANDER — not a BYSTANDER. Show some respect. And together, we can stand up to bullies!

This past September was Suicide Prevention Month, and WMS hosted a number of activities and programs which raised awareness about this serious topic.

But Suicide Prevention isn’t just important in September — it should be a priority ALL YEAR LONG. We tried to show you a video about this last week, but had some technical problems so most of you didn’t see it. So let’s try it again. Stay tuned for this next video about what YOU can do to support Suicide Prevention.
