- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - The 2nd semester may be just starting — but it’s already time think about next year’s classes! Here’s the plan: today, our school counselors will be conducting academic planning in the auditorium. 7th graders will go during 3rd period, and 6th graders will go during 7th period. Meanwhile, for our 8th graders, counselors from Yorktown High School will be leading an assembly today and tomorrow during your Wolf Time. Students should go to their classrooms first, then come to the auditorium with your teachers.
. - Attention Ms. Warden’s and Ms. Woodbury’s 8th grade science classes! Students should report to the LIBRARY for class today. Once again, Ms. Warden’s and Ms. Woodbury’s science classes — don’t go to your classroom, go directly to the library. And be sure to bring all of your materials!
. - Calling all MUNNERS! The Model UN club is meeting TODAY during ASP I in room C105. Participants will finalize their positions papers, discuss the conference at William & Mary, and research the latest political developments in Africa. See Mr. McDermott with any questions.
. - The WMS Homecoming Dance — Winter Yeti-Land — is scheduled for Friday, February 10th from 6 to 8pm in the gym. There will be music, dancing, pictures, prizes, and lots of good snacks. To attend, just complete the free online registration form by Monday, February 6th. Don’t delay, get your ticket to the Yeti-Land Dance TODAY!!
. - Hey WMS, what’s that buzz? It’s the sound of the annual Williamsburg Geography Bee! If you’d like to participate, social studies teachers will be conducting classroom competitions soon to see if you qualify.
.
And for a little taste of what’s in store, see if you can answer this Geo Bee practice question: The Malagasy people have strong ties with the French and live on the largest island in the Indian Ocean. Name this island.
.
I know this one! It’s also the name of a famous movie. The answer is: MADAGASCAR!! Did you get it, too? See your social studies teachers with any questions about the Bee, and GOOD LUCK in the classroom competitions!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE! WMS hosted its annual Science Fair on January 20th and it was a HUGE success! Thanks to all of our young scientists for participating. And now, we’re proud to present this year’s WINNERS — who will be advancing to the Regional Science Fair later this year.
.
Congratulations to 7th graders Kylie C., Sid G., Candela G-C, and Rahil M. And to 8th graders Lorraine C., Lily S., George C., Aman S., Gabriel H., Faris K., Myriam L., Catherine L., Raika L., Maya U-T, and Asher P. Way to go, science wolves!! [clap] Winners should see Ms. Willet during lunch to start the registration for Regionals.
. - Wolf Pack Pride continues with the Boys Basketball team who defeated Dorothy Hamm in their home opener last week — 42 to 33. Sam and Matt dominated on offense with 15 points each. While Thomas, Nate, and Lukas led the defense. And props to 6th grader Connor who made his debut. Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap]
. - Wolf Pack Pride wraps up with the WMS wrestling team who DEMOLISHED Dorothy Hamm in their season opener — 63 to 24. The wolves got pins in TEN of their matches, and one big sudden death overtime victory from 8th grader Leo S. Big props also for 6th grader Emmet W, 7th grader Jana Y, and 8th grader Emir B — who all got 1st period pins. Way to go, wrestling wolves!! [clap]
