- Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - Attention all TAs!! Smile for the camera! Over the next few weeks, the WMS Yearbook Staff will be taking TA pictures of the entire school! Here’s the schedule: 7th grade TAs wrap-up TODAY — and 8th grade TAs will be this Thursday and Friday. All make-ups and retakes will then be scheduled for the week of February 14th.
. - Yearbook photographers will come to your room to take the picture. They’ll be arranging everyone into 2-lines — but if you’d like to do something more creative as a TA, be sure to practice your pose in advance so you’re ready to go. Contact Mr. Schonfeld with any questions about TA pictures.
. - Calling all MUNNERS! The Model UN Club will meet TODAY during ASP 1 in room C105. Participants will discuss the results of the GW Conference — and start making plans for upcoming events. All are welcome — new members and old! See Mr. McDermott with any questions.
. - Who wants pizza?!? The WMS Sister Circle Club will be hosting ANOTHER pizza fundraiser on TODAY after school in the Main Lobby. It’s just 2-dollars per slice of cheese OR pepperoni. Plus, you can also get a candy bar for a buck! The Sister Circle Pizza Fundraiser — Get it while it’s hot!!
. - The Sister Circle “Valentine’s Day Candy Grams” are officially SOLD OUT. Order forms submitted TODAY will still be honored, but that’s it. Thanks to everyone who signed-up — and we hope you have a Happy Valentine’s Day!!
. - Calling all Divers and Swimmers! If you’d like to compete in the upcoming season, your physical must be submitted by next MONDAY. And don’t forget to complete the online google form by February 22nd — located on the swim page of the WMS website. See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE! Congratulations to 6th grader Peyton J., whose Flag Football Team — the Virginia Hurricanes — just won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at the NFL Flag Football Pro Bowl in Las Vegas this past weekend! Way to go, flag football wolf!! [clap]
. - And finally, February is Black History Month — a time to reflect on the inspiring women and men who helped make this country great. Here’s an interesting fact: Did you know that Drew Elementary School was named after an amazing Arlingtonian — and a genuine American hero?!
.
Dr. Charles Richard Drew, who grew up just a few miles from here, was known as the “Father of the Blood Bank” for his work with preserving blood plasma and creating the first mobile blood donation center. His efforts saved countless lives during World War II, and continues to save lives today. To learn more about the incredible contributions of African Americans throughout history, be sure to check out our display in the WMS Library!
