. - And now for an important announcement for all 6th graders on the Exploratory Wheel — TODAY and TOMORROW you will be rotating to your NEW exploratory class. Staff members will be stationed throughout the halls this afternoon to help you find your way — but please do your best to be ON TIME. Again, the new Wheel classes for 6th graders begin TODAY.
. - Do you think you can sprint, run, or jump with the best of Arlington County? If so, you need to come to the WMS Track and Field informational meeting — TODAY during ASP 1 in the gym. Meet the coaches, returning athletes, and learn how YOU can be a part of the reigning back-to-back County Championship team. See Coach Treble with any questions. On your marks, get set… GO!!!
. - Calling all swimmers! All of our “aquatic athletes” on the WMS swim team should meet Ms. Hogwood outside of the cafeteria TODAY during your grade-level lunch to sign up for the first Swim Meet on March 12th. And be sure to bring your iPad! Again, swimmers should sign-up for the swim meet TODAY during lunch.
. - Calling all Scholastic Art Competition WINNERS! Mr. Skryzpek will be distributing your Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention certificates TODAY in the library immediately following the Morning Announcements. And you’ll also be taking a group picture for the yearbook — so it’s very important that you’re there. Once again, Scholastic Art Competition winners should go to the library RIGHT NOW for your certificates and yearbook picture. See Mr. Skrypek with any questions.
. - Calling all GAMERS!! Are you ready to take your gaming to the next level? Then come to the new “Brains versus Games” club — meeting TODAY and every Monday during ASP 1 in room 106. Participants will use critical and analytical thinking skills to develop new gaming strategies — and make themselves UNBEATABLE! See Mr. Bell with any questions. Game on!!
. - It’s the cold and flu season — and you may have noticed that a number of your classmates have been falling ill lately. But there’s something super easy and super important that you can do to protect yourself from those nasty germs: WASH YOUR HANDS!! Challenge yourself to wash your hands throughout the day — especially before lunch and after using the restroom. Health officials say that lathering your hands with soap for 20 to 30 seconds can kill the majority of germs that make people sick. So let’s keep it clean, wolves, and wash your hands!!
. - And finally today — the 4th annual WMS March Madness Tournament of Books is officially underway!! Sixteen of your favorite books have been pitted against each other in a battle for the 2020 WMS Book of the Year. Students can cast their votes for the Sweet-16 round by scanning the QR code outside of the main office — or just follow the link in the Morning Announcements Blog on the WMS website.
