- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - Hey 7th graders — 8th grade is calling! Course Request Forms must be completed and SIGNED by this FRIDAY at the latest. Just turn them in to either Ms. Boyers or Ms. Kenny. But don’t wait until the last minute — or your first choice classes may be filled to capacity! Again, 7th graders — your CRFs for the 8th grade are due at the end of the week.
. - This next announcement is for all 8th graders: Please complete the Academic Planning Exit Ticket on Canvas this morning in TA. Just go to the “8th School Counseling” class on Canvas — then click “Academic Planning Exit Ticket.” It should only take you a few minutes — but it is MANDATORY for everyone. Again, all 8th graders must complete the Academic Planning Exit Ticket during TA. See Ms. Brenckle with any questions.
. - The 2020 Yearbook is conducting a survey about your POP CULTURE favorites — singers, movies, video games, and more! Students AND teachers are encouraged to go to the Morning Announcements Blog, click the link to the Pop Culture Survey, then cast your vote! The survey will be available until this FRIDAY.
- Attention all actors and tech! The WMS Theatre Department will be holding its first rehearsal and informational meeting for the upcoming Spring musical this THURSDAY during ASP 1 & 2 in the auditorium. All interested students should plan to attend. See Mr. Brown with any questions. Break a leg!
. - Calling all coders! “Girls Who Code” — an after school club committed to cutting edge computer coding — will now be meeting on Wednesdays during ASP 1 and 2 in room 137. New day of the week, but same great time! Girls in all grades are invited to participate — whether you’re a computer pro or just getting started. See Ms. Edme with any questions.
. - It’s time to hit that diving board and make a SPLASH! The WMS Dive Team is recruiting divers for the new season — which begins next TUESDAY after school — and all you need is a towel, a swim cap, and nerves of steel! Interested athletes should see Ms. Hogwood during your grade-level lunch for more information. Good luck, divers!
. - And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Solomon! If you are having any problems with your school-issued iPad — whether it’s password problems, not connecting to the internet, glitching apps, cracked screens, or ANYTHING else — please submit the online “Student Tech. Help Request” form through the WMS website. Forms may be submitted from any device with an internet connection. And remember — if you can’t use your APS iPad for homework, you can always use a personal iPad or computer. Ms. Solomon’s got the solution! So submit today — and get yourself back online.
. - Join the fight for women’s rights! This summer, our country will celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the 19th Amendment — which guarantees a woman’s RIGHT TO VOTE. But here at WMS — we’re starting the celebration early. This FRIDAY, all students and staff are encouraged to wear PURPLE and WHITE — the primary colors of the Women’s Suffrage Movement. And then at each grade-level lunch — the students with the most “suffragette spirit” will win some cool prizes! So wear your purple and white this FRIDAY — and show your support for women’s rights!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE! The WMS wrestling team threw-down against Dorothy Hamm Middle School on the road last Thursday and they took it to the HOUSE, earning a big win — 66 to 24. The Wolves stacked up an incredible NINE pins — and saw the first individual victories of the year for 6th grader Devon H., 7th grader Neil A., and 8th grader Everett B. Way to go, wrestling wolves!! [clap] Wrestling returns to Williamsburg for its final regular season match of the year this THURSDAY at 3:15. So let’s pack the stands and root them on to VICTORY!!
. - Wolf Pack Pride continues with the Boy Basketball team — who ended their home campaign on a high note with a 32-24 victory over Kenmore yesterday. The boys were led by John O. on defense, whose non-stop pressure prompted one frustrated opponent to yell — quote — “I can’t do anything. He’s EVERYWHERE!” Way to go, hoopster wolves!! [clap]. WMS wraps-up its season on Thursday with a tough matchup on the road against an undefeated Gunston squad. Good luck, ballers!!
. - And finally today — it’s Random Acts of Kindness Week here at WMS! So as you’re walking through the halls, be sure to ask yourself what YOU can do to make someone else’s day just a little bit better. And to get things started, check out this totally KIND video!!
