- We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE! It’s TEACHER and STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK here at WMS — and we’ve got a LOT of special events lined-up. And here to tell us all about it is our WMS-PTA president — Ms. Debbie Pearson!
And now, for our first official act of Teacher Appreciation Week — we ask that all students take a moment to recognize your hard-working TA teacher with a round of applause. Thank you, teachers, for all you do!! [clap]
. - Calling all TABies! The TAB Club’s end-of-the-year PIZZA PARTY is TODAY during all grade-level lunches in the WMS Library. All you need to bring is YOURSELF — and maybe a good book, too. See Ms. Lord with any questions.
. - Calling all CAST and CREW of the Spring Musical! Your performance the other week was a HUGE success — and now, you get to see it for yourself! All CAST and CREW are cordially invited to a VIEWING PARTY of Beauty and the Beast, Junior — TODAY after school in the auditorium. The hard work is over — so now just sit back and “Be Our Guest!” See Mr. Brown with any questions.
. - Today’s WMS Kindness Club meeting has been RESCHEDULED for this THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 134. Participants will be starting construction on their special school project — and there’s plenty of work to go around. And of course, new members are always welcome to join! See Mr. Johnson, Ms. Schaefer, or Ms. Zeller with any questions.
. - Attention WMS! The Virginia Standards of Learning are set to begin TOMORROW — and will continue until June 8th. The SOLs will involve every student and staff member in school — so it’s important that everyone knows what to expect.
.
To learn your testing days and location, either check with your TA teacher or the posting boards located by the cafeteria, library, and gym. And on your testing days — you may ONLY bring the following items: your fully-charged iPad, a pencil or pen, a book to read, and earbuds ONLY if you have an approved audio accommodation for the test.
.
You may NOT bring: backpacks or cinch sacks; any other electronic devises such as phones, watches, game consoles and the like; nor any water or snacks. And of course, there is zero tolerance for CHEATING.
.
And even on days when you’re NOT testing, please remember to be quiet and respectful in the halls. Any other questions or concerns? Check with your teachers, grade level counselors, or Ms. Cameron.
. - Also, it’s very important that EVERY STUDENT runs a “TestNav System Check” to make sure the testing software is installed and functioning prior to the test. For a quick tutorial on how to run the Systems Check, just go to the “Technology” section of the WMS Website, click “iPad Tech Tutorials”, then select “TestNav SOL System Check for Students.” You can also follow the link located in today’s Morning Announcements Blog. See Ms. Cameron or Ms. Solomon with any additional technology issues or questions about the upcoming tests. GOOD LUCK on the SOLs, Williamsburg!!

. - On a related note, please be advised that the WMS Library will be CLOSED to students during all SOL testing hours. But it WILL be open every day during TA, after school, and on non-testing days. So be sure to check the library doors for the OPEN or CLOSED sign — and listen for daily reminders on the Morning Announcements.
