    .
  • Want to make some music? The WMS Symphony Club will be meeting TODAY during ASP 1 and 2 in room C105. This “melodious” group is composed of band, orchestra, and chorus members — and it’s open to EVERYONE with a love of music. So check it out! See Ms. Tuttle with any questions.
    .
  • Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown Spanish Honor Society will be offering the FINAL free tutoring session of the year — TUESDAY during ASP 2 in room WW 5.  Get extra help with grammar and vocab — and everything you need to succeed. Just be sure to sign up with your Spanish teacher in advance, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!
    .
  • Game on!  The Yorktown Field Hockey Team is recruiting players for next fall.  Interested female athletes currently in the 7th and 8th grades are invited to an informational session this WEDNESDAY during ASP 1 in the WMS gym.    You’ll get to meet the coach, have a Q and A, and learn everything you need to get a jump on the competition.  See your PE teacher for more information.
    .
  • Calling all native-Spanish speakers! If you speak Spanish at home, then you could EASILY earn a special “Seal of Bi-literacy” on your high school diploma. Just sign-up for next year’s “Spanish for Fluent Speakers” class — and you’ll be on your way! Applications MUST be submitted by next Wednesday — so don’t wait. Just scan the QR code with your TA teacher, or see your grade-level counselor for more information. Buena suerte!!
    .
  • “Every HERO needs a squad!!” The Pennies for Patients fundraiser is going strong! All month long, the WMS Check-In program will be collecting donations for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its fight against cancer.  The goal is to raise 3,600-dollars — and whichever TA collects the most money will get a free pizza and ice cream party!! See Ms. Kia with any questions — and support the Pennies for Patients fundraiser!
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
    .
  • And finally today, we have the results for last week’s final Library Trivia Challenge!  You’ll recall that the question was — why should these two books about whales be “pulled” from the WMS Library Collection?
    .
And the answer is:  Because the picture on each cover is NOT of a whale!!  Orcas — commonly known as Killer Whales — are not actually whales.  They’re DOLPHINS!!  So obviously these two books HAD to go.
    .
Nearly 100 WMS students submitted an answer to this Trivia Challenge.  Our librarians drew 10 names from the Trivia Hat — are these are the winners:
–Freya H. from Mr. Peacock’s TA
    –Olivia S. from Ms. Field
    –Maddie S. from Jackson
    –Samantha H. from Miller

    –Eric J. from Zarro
    –Mario K. from Tagert
