  • We begin today with an important message from your WMS librarians.  Is everybody listening?  OK, here it is:  RETURN YOUR OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS!!!  Numerous classes are coming to the library next week to get reading material for winter break. And some of them may want to read that book that’s been sitting in your locker for the last three months.  So let’s give them the best selection possible — and return your books!

    .

  • Get ready for a musical bonanza! The Williamsburg Middle School “Winter Concert” is TODAY for all grade level classes. You’ll be treated to performances by our entire WMS music program, including the band, chorus and orchestra, and consisting of hundreds of your talented classmates and friends.
    .
PANCAKES: The schedule is as follows: 8th grade during 1st period, 7th grade during 4th period, and 6th grade during 6th period. Remember to go to your classroom first, then your teacher will escort you to the auditorium. Books and backpacks are NOT allowed — so leave them in your classroom. And please remember to be respectful and supportive of your peers. Also, this is a reminder for all ADVANCED CHORUS members to report to room 227 for 1st and 4th periods prior to the assemblies. Enjoy the show, wolves!
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!!  Get on your WOLF-gear, everybody, because next week is SPIRIT WEEK at WMS!! Here’s the schedule of events: we start with Favorite Sports Team Day on Monday — then Hat Day on Tuesday — Tacky Sweater Day on Wednesday — and finally Pajama Day on Thursday. Just make sure it’s “school appropriate!”  Join in the fun for Spirit Week at WMS — and Be a Part of the Pride!!
    .
  • Wolf Pack Pride continues with some good news from the Williamsburg sports program.  The WMS girls basketball team put on an absolute CLINIC yesterday in their home game against Kenmore — with a big 38 to 15 win.  Now THAT is what I call getting schooled!  Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap] The team improves to 5 and 1 on the season, and looks to keep their winning ways going next MONDAY in a tough rematch on the road against Swanson.  Good luck, wolves!
    .
  • Have you made a New Year’s Resolution?  The Student Services Staff is promoting a new, school-wide initiative: “New Year – New Goals – New YOU!”  Next Monday and Tuesday, our school counselors will be distributing strips of paper to students in the cafeteria. You’ll write your NAME on one side, and on the other side a GOAL that you’d like to achieve in the coming year.  All those goals will then be linked together into a paper-chain that will be strung around the cafeteria. It will serve as a reminder of all we hope to accomplish in the future.  So be sure to participate in this fun activity, and be a part of the pride!!
    .
  • Who wants pizza? The Model UN Club will be selling pizza TODAY after school, both in the main lobby and by the cafeteria.  It’s just 2-dollars for a slice and a cookie — and all money raised will go to support the Model UN and its upcoming conferences.  Come hungry!
    .
  • And speaking of the Model UN, all MUNners are reminded to complete and return your application forms for the upcoming William and Mary Conference by next MONDAY at the latest.  See Mrs. Carlson for details.
    .
  • The Boys Cohort will be meeting on MONDAY during ASP 1 in room 233. It’s an opportunity for Black and Latino students to meet new people, and become LEADERS in our community. Allies are welcome, too! Come participate in activities just for boys with Mr. Hicks, Mr. Eason and Mr. Valdez.
    .
  • It’s better to GIVE than to RECEIVE! The WMS Kindness Club is helping the Arlington Police Department with a new charity this year, called “Fill the Cruiser – Holiday Toy Drive.” Students and staff are encouraged to bring in NEW and UNWRAPPED gifts between now and December 20th, all of which will be given to APS students in need this holiday season. Grade-level donation bins are located in the library. So keep the donations coming, and we’ll see which grade has the most GENEROUS holiday spirit. Spread kindness where you may, and donate to the Toy Drive today!!
    .
  • Hey, Williamsburg, what’s your favorite cereal?  Whether it’s Raisin Bran, Lucky Charms, Cheerios, or anything else — that box of cereal can go a long way to helping the homeless in Arlington.  Ms. Compton’s English Class is currently collecting cereal in support of A-SPAN — the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network. Students and staff are encouraged to bring in a box or two and drop them in the “Big Blue Box” by the WMS main entrance.  Cereal will be accepted between now and next TUESDAY. After all — breakfast is the most important meal of the day!!
    .
  • And finally today:  months after the devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico, the recovery effort continues.  But according to WOLF-TV student-reporters Annabel P. and Cole A. — it’s not going fast enough, and thousands of Americans remain desperate for help.
