- Up first, we welcome Mr. Tuttle from the Counseling Department — with a special announcement about “Red Ribbon Week!”
- Good morning, wolves! I’m Mr. Tuttle, and we’re talking about Red Ribbon Week. One of the most important factors in living a healthy “drug-free” lifestyle — is having healthy “interpersonal” relationships. Surrounding ourselves with caring and supportive friends and family can help make even the darkest times seem a little brighter. As the old saying goes: “No man is an island.” So get out there – meet someone new – join a club – go outside and play – volunteer at a local charity – and always make healthy choices. Also, be sure to stop by the Red Ribbon Table at lunch today and say ‘hello’ to Ms. Bowler, the WMS substance abuse counselor. And remember: YOLO: Be Drug Free!!
- Thanks, Mr. Tuttle! And now, back to the news. It’s Day 2 of the “2016 Mock Election” — and let’s hope it goes a little better than Day 1. It turns out that SO MANY of you tried to vote yesterday that we crashed the server! So cross your fingers, and let’s try again. Just scan the QR code from your TA teacher — select “YLI 2016 Presidential Mock Election” from the menu and BE PATIENT. And remember: voting is your civic duty — so make your voice heard, Williamsburg!
- A special thank you to all the student, teachers and staff who participated in Mix It Up Day at lunch yesterday. I know it was a break for your normal routine, but events like these are critical for promoting tolerance and understanding in our shared environment. And best case scenario — you made a few new friends! Way to go, wolves! [clap]
- Calling all Math Lovers! Math Counts will meet TODAY during lunch and after school. The lunch meetings are: 6th grade in room 203, 7th grade in room 134, and 8th grade in room WW3. The after school meeting will be in WW4 for all students. Hooray for math!!

- “Latinas Leading Tomorrow” will take place TODAY during ASP 1 in room 214. Come and learn about hispanic cultures, empowerment, and the importance of allies and support! Please see Ms. Pointer or Ms. Winter with any questions.
- Dribble, pass, shoot, SCORE!! Tryouts for Girls Soccer wrap up on TODAY after school for 8th graders. Be sure to sign-up on the activity board by the cafeteria — and you must have a physical on file to participate. Please see Coach Girard with any questions.

- The Leo Club’s Annual Coat Drive for the Homeless is up and running! Collection boxes are located in the library, and students are encouraged donate new or gently-used coats, scarves, gloves and socks. YOUR HELP can make all the difference to a person-in-need this winter!!
- The annual FUNdraiser for the Williamsburg PTA is ON! Just go to the “WMS PTA” link on the WMS homepage, then select “No Frills Fundraiser” to make a donation. And remember — everyone who donates will be entered into the “Donut Hero” drawing. The winning ticket will receive a donut breakfast delivered to everyone in your TA — and your parents will win a gift card to a local business. Thanks for supporting the PTA — and good luck in the drawing!!
- Discovery Elementary School will be hosting “PumpkinFest” this SUNDAY from 12 to 4PM. There will be a parade, pumpkin carving contest, dunk tank, moon bounce, food trucks and a ton of games. But they need YOUR HELP! Discovery needs middle school VOLUNTEERS to help make PumpkinFest a success. Interested students are encouraged to sign-up in the main office.
- And speaking of pumpkins: what are YOU going to wear on Halloween? Whatever it is, there are a few rules to remember here at school. Basically, costumes must conform to the WMS dress code, not offend anyone, no weapons, no masks, and nothing inappropriate. And if you’re not sure — ask a teacher or administrator.
