- It was a busy week in sports here at WMS. Up first: the Girls Ultimate Frisbee team was FANTASTIC in their match against HB Woodlawn — widely considered to be the county’s premier frisbee program. The 8th grade girls got down early but never quit, playing a stifling defense to the end. And the 6th and 7th grade girls earned a hard-fought tie. Up next: a home-game against Jefferson — TODAY after school on the athletic field. So come on out and cheer them on!
- And the boys Soccer team put their undefeated season on the line yesterday against Kenmore — but lost a heart-breaker by a final score of 3 to 2. Simon P. and Gibson L. each scored for the wolves — but it wasn’t quite enough. The wolves will get a chance at redemption on MONDAY — when Kenmore comes to WMS for the Championship match. Let’s be sure to root them on!
- Calling all dancers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and visual artists! Put your creative genius to the test in the annual “Reflections” contest. This year’s theme: “What Is Your Story?” Just get a submission form and turn-in your entry to the “Reflections” box in the library by next MONDAY.
- The next Sister Circle meeting is scheduled for MONDAY during ASP 1 in room 233. Please see Ms. Pointer for more information.
- Hey 8th graders! Take ownership of your high school education at Arlington Tech! Hosted by the Arlington Career Center, Arlington Tech offers real-world educational opportunities in STEM and CTE. Want to learn more? Then take the field trip on November 1st and see all that Arlington Tech has to offer. Permission slips MUST be turned-in by next TUESDAY, October 18th. Please see Ms. Flynn or Mr. Hicks for more information.
- Boys Ultimate Frisbee is set to begin on MONDAY, October 24th. 6th, 7th and 8th graders are all encouraged to join. No experience necessary — just a love of the game. Interested athletes are asked to sign up on the activity board by the cafeteria — and you do NOT need a physical to play. Please see Mr. Smo, Mr. Witte, or Mr. Clark for more information.
- Mark your calendars, because Discovery Elementary School will be hosting “PumpkinFest” on Sunday, October 30th from 12 to 4PM. There will be a parade, pumpkin carving contest, dunk tank, moon bounce, food trucks and a ton of games. But they need YOUR HELP! Discovery needs middle school VOLUNTEERS to help make PumpkinFest a success. Interested students are encouraged to sign-up in the main office.
