- Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — plus Wolf Time — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - On your marks, get set, GO!! The WMS Track and Field team is looking to defend its County Championship this year. So if you are as fast as a cheetah, or can jump as high as a kangaroo — Track and Field needs YOU!! There will be an informational meeting for Track and Field next TUESDAY after school in the gym. Meet the coach, returning players, and learn everything you need to know about tryouts.
. - And don’t forget that everyone who competes in an after-school sport MUST complete a sports physical form, and submit it to the yellow mailbox outside of the Activities office. See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
. - Something exciting is coming to WMS next month! March is Women’s History Month, and our Student Services Department is organizing a series of events and activities to celebrate — but they need your help! If YOU would like to be a part of the planning and development for Women’s History Month, please contact Ms. Wielechowski in room 124. Thanks for supporting women and girls, Williamsburg!
. - And as we prepare for the beginning of Women’s History Month, we’re also coming to the end of Black History Month. So our Student Services Department has decided to POSTPONE Black History Month Spirit Day, which was originally scheduled for today. Instead, WMS will be hosting a COMBINED event recognizing both Women’s History and Black History NEXT month. We’ll have more details about this upcoming special event in the coming weeks.
. And now, it’s time for “Black History Month — That’s a FACT!!”
.
Today’s fact is about Vernice “Fly Girl” Armour — and they called her “Fly Girl” for a reason. In 2001, she became the first African-American female pilot in the United States Marine Corps after graduating FIRST in her class. And then in 2003, she went on to be the first Black woman to fly in combat, serving two tours in the Persian Gulf War. And That’s a Fact!!
.- And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!! Congratulations to the WMS Boys Basketball team, for closing out their season with a big win against Swanson Middle School yesterday. The team was down by 10 points, but made an INCREDIBLE comeback and won the game — 42 to 40.
.
Big props to Finley, our leading scorer. To Connor and Nico, who controlled the pace. To Morgan and Emmett, for dominating the boards. And to the entire team for a great season. Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap]
. - Believe it or not, but we’re already TWO MONTHS into the New Year. So how’s 2025 going for you so far?
.
The New Year is a time for new beginnings — and New Year’s Resolutions. Student-reporters Madison, Helene, and me — Diego — have the story.
