  • Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — plus Wolf Time — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.

  • Calling all athletes!! It may still feel like winter outside, but the Spring sports season is already here! The Swim team and Dive team both begin this week, and the Track and Field team begins on March 10th.  But to participate, you MUST submit your sports physical form to the yellow mailbox outside of the Activities office.  See Ms. Hogwood with any other questions about Spring sports.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch.  Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus!  See Ms. Lavin in the office with any questions.

  • Something exciting is coming to WMS next month!  March is Women’s History Month, and our Student Services Department is organizing a series of events and activities to celebrate — but they need your help!  If YOU would like to be a part of the planning and development for Women’s History Month, please contact Ms. Wielechowski in room 124.  Thanks for supporting women and girls, Williamsburg!
    .
  • And as we prepare for the beginning of Women’s History Month, we’re also coming to the end of Black History Month. So our Student Services Department has decided to POSTPONE Black History Month Spirit Day, which was originally scheduled for Friday.  Instead, WMS will be hosting a COMBINED event recognizing both Women’s History and Black History NEXT month.  We’ll have more details about this upcoming special event in the coming weeks.
    .
  • And now, it’s time for “Black History Month — That’s a FACT!!”
    .
Today’s fact is about the “peanut man”:  George Washington Carver — a prominent African American scientist and inventor during the early 20th century.  Carter is most widely known for inventing peanut butter — but he also conducted a great deal of research into farming and sustainability.  His efforts substantially improved the lives of poor southern farmers — and especially Black sharecroppers.  And That’s a Fact!!
