  • Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — plus Wolf Time — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.

  • Calling all athletes!!  The Fall sports season keeps rolling along — with girls ultimate, girls basketball, and boys soccer scheduled to begin next month. But to participate, you MUST do TWO THINGS:  first, complete the QR code for your sport.  And second, you must submit your SPORTS PHYSICAL FORM — Girls Ultimate is due on October 7th; while Girls Basketball and Boys Soccer are due by October 18th. See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.

  • In this country, we all have the Freedom of Speech AND the Freedom to Read!  This is Banned Books Week — which raises awareness about the many books, essays, and publications that face censorship in this country. In recognition of this event, the WMS Library has created a “Banned Books Collection” on display for all students and staff.  So come get yourself a banned book — and be PROUD of your Freedom to Read!!

  • Put your creative genius to the test! The annual PTA Reflections Contest is now accepting submissions from all grade-level students. This year’s theme is: “I am hopeful because…” Projects can include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. The deadline to submit is Tuesday, November 21st. Go to wmspta.org for more information. Unleash your inner artist and submit to the PTA Reflections Contest today!!

  • Have you checked the lost and found lately? We’re only a month into the school year, but a number of lost items have already been turned-in:  water bottles, lunch boxes, hats, sweatshirts, and more!  If you’ve lost anything, there’s a HUGE lost-and-found located in the cafeteria.  You should also check the lost and found in each of your teachers’ classrooms.  And for lost iPADS, check the bin in the main office.

  • And finally, on this day in history — September 26th, 1774 — an American frontiersman named Johnny Appleseed was born.

    That’s right — he was actually a real historical figure!  And his influence on our nation was as American as, well, apple pie.  Stay tuned for this special video about Johnny Appleseed.
