  • Today we will be following the BLUE DAY schedule.  That means we start with an extended TA until 8:25.  During this time, teachers may request to meet with students for individualized help and instruction.  After that, you’ll proceed to periods 1 through 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class.  Again, this is a BLUE day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
    .
  • And a reminder to all TEACHERS!  Please be sure to check your Blue Day rosters following the Morning Announcements so you can tell your students where to go if they’ve been requested for another class. All other students will remain in your TAs and use this extra time to organize, study, or read!

  • Calling all 8th graders!  The upcoming 8th grade Science SOL will cover THREE YEARS worth of material:  Earth and Space Science from the 6th grade; Life Science from the 7th grade; and Physical Science from the 8th grade.  In preparation, Ms. Willet will be offering Science SOL review sessions TODAY and TOMORROW during ASP 1 in room 115.  No registration is required, just come on by.  It will help you do your best on the science test.
    .
  • And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Hwang!  The last round of SOLs are NEXT WEEK, so your iPad needs to be working!  If you are having any problems with your school-issued iPad — whether it’s password problems, not connecting to the internet, glitching apps, cracked screens, or ANYTHING else — please tell your TA teacher so they can notify technology support. They’ll have you back online in no time!!
    .
  • And speaking of SOLs, did you know that MOST students will finish their tests BEFORE time expires?  And that once you’re finished, you are NOT allowed to use your iPad? So you need to plan ahead!  Students are encouraged to stop by the library and check-out a good book!  You’ll be glad you did!  See our school librarians for a recommendation.
    .
  • Attention Anime Club! The Anime Club is meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 109. Participants will be finalizing their Spring Showcase — and deciding how their art will be displayed.  Contact Ms. Armistead with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all students!  This is a reminder that the late bus is ONLY operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  There is NO LONGER a late bus on Wednesdays. So make sure you’ve got a plan for getting home.  Once again, the late bus NO LONGER runs on Wednesdays.  See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all 7th and 8th graders! Do you like dance, music, and marching band? Then this next announcement is for you!  The Yorktown Colorguard is now recruiting for next year’s Fall season.
    .

  • And finally —- there are many serious issues confronting us in the world today.  But we can make a difference!
    .
Please stay tuned for the following Public Service Announcement — and learn what YOU can do to make a  change for the better.
