- Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - Calling all students! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And now there’s NO EXCUSE for not eating it. For the entire month of March, breakfast is being served for FREE in the WMS cafeteria before TA. So head on down and grab some grub. You’ll be glad you did!
. - Attention Anime Club! This week’s Anime Club meeting and the visiting artist session has been CANCELLED, and is now rescheduled for next week Wednesday. Once again, there is NO Anime Club meeting this week. Contact Ms. Armistead with any questions.
. - Calling all MUNNERS! This week’s Model UN meeting has been rescheduled for THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room C105. And if you are interested in attending the conference at Alice Deal Middle School on Saturday, March 16, please see Mr. McDermott IMMEDIATELY to get a permission slip and register. Once again, the Model UN meeting is on THURSDAY.
. - On your marks, get set, GO! Tryouts for the WMS Track & Field team are scheduled to begin on Monday, March 11th. But if you’d like to participate, you need to submit your physical by this FRIDAY. See Ms. Hogwood or Coach Treble with any questions.
. - Give a helping hand to those in need! The Helping Hands club is hosting a FOOD DRIVE to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center from now through Wednesday, March 13th. They’re also having a friendly competition: There will be food collection boxes in each grade-level hallway. And whichever grade donates the most items will win a popsicle party during lunch!! Thanks for supporting the Arlington Food Assistance Center, Wolf Pack!!
. - And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Hwang! It’s time to upgrade your iPad! APS has just approved the newest iPad operating system — iOS 17.3.1. All students are asked to install the new version as soon as possible — but please be aware that it takes about 30-minutes to complete, so you should do this AT HOME. And if you’re having any trouble getting the new iOS to install, be sure to ask your TA teacher to submit a tech support ticket. Don’t forget! Install iOS 17.3.1 as soon as you get home.
. - It’s March Madness! And we’ve got a pair of tournaments underway. First up: Ready, set, READ!! The 8th annual March Madness Tournament of Books is going strong! We’ve made it to the Elite-8. This year’s contenders are a mix of old favorites and new titles that are burning up the book charts. Who will be moving on?
.
Here’s how to participate: Just go to the WMS Library Canvas Course and cast your vote. We’ll announce the results next week. And remember: the TA in each grade with the best bracket will win a prize — so if your TA hasn’t submitted a bracket yet, do it ASAP! The March Madness Tournament of Books — may the best book win!!
. - Up next, it’s the Manie Musicale de Mars — aka the March Madness of Music! Nearly 6-million students from 34-countries are voting on the year’s best songs. And YOU get a vote, too! All students in FRENCH are reminded to cast your vote TODAY for the first matchup in the Sweet-16.
.
And if any non-French students are interested in the tournament, too — just go to room 220 and scan the QR code, or ask Ms. McNeese for more information. Vive la Musique!!
. - It’s Social Emotional Learning Week here at Williamsburg — and we have a special message from APS. Today we are highlighting the SEL competency of Self-Management.
.
Self-management includes skills like setting goals, being motivated, staying organized, managing our stress, controlling our impulses, and examining our biases. These are all skills that help us to be our best selves. Stay tuned all week long for more SEL tips and activities. See Ms. Terzaghi with any questions.
