from APS:
LGBTQIA+ Pride Month
Pride Month is an opportunity to strengthen understanding, affirmation, and belonging while reinforcing our commitment to ensure that every student and staff member experiences a school and work environment where they can learn, grow, work and participate as their authentic selves.
It also honors the history, resilience and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community and sends an important message to our LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families that they are seen, supported, and respected in APS.
Our schools will recognize Pride Month in a variety of ways, including through readings with developmentally appropriate books, lessons, conversations, and school activities. Through these activities, students will have opportunities to learn about diverse identities and experiences in ways that strengthen understanding, belonging, and connection.
We encourage families to join us in recognizing Pride Month, whether by participating in community events, learning more about LGBTQIA+ history and experiences, or serving as allies who help foster affirmation and respect.
Together, we will celebrate with pride, compassion, and commitment to providing safe and supportive learning environments for every student.
