  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE! Yesterday, the WMS Girls Soccer team picked-up right where they left off last season, winning their first game of the year — 6 to zero against TJ on our home field.  Five different players scored goals — including TWO from striker Emma K.   And major props to goalies Celeste G. and Zoe F. — who combined on the shutout.  Be sure to come out and root for our defending champions next TUESDAY, when they host Kenmore Middle School at 3:15.  Way to go, soccer wolves!! [clap]

  • The WMS Activity Fair was a SMASHING success yesterday.  HUNDREDS of kids stopped by the booths to see the wide range of sports, clubs, and ACT 2 classes available this year.  Thanks to all the teachers, sponsors, and student leaders for volunteering their time yesterday — and for delivering all these amazing opportunities to our school.  And remember — it’s not too late to sign up for activities!  Just go to the Activities section of the WMS website for more information, or see the Activities Coordinator — Ms. Hogwood — with any questions.

  • The WMS Model UN Club was one of the prime attractions at the Activities Fair yesterday — and now it’s ready to begin for real!  There will be a pair of MUNner meetings in room 202 next week:  first, on TUESDAY during ASP 1 for experienced or returning members ONLY; then on THURSDAY for ALL members — new and old — right after school.  See Ms. Carlson with any questions.
    .
  • The combined Yorktown -Williamsburg Speech and Debate Team is now recruiting students from all grade levels. Participants will debate in a range of competitive formats — including Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, student Congress, and more!  Practices will be held on MONDAYS after school.  For more information, check out the team website at www.yhsds.org, or see Ms. Jones in room 1A6.

  • Could your parents survive a day in Middle School?  We’ll soon find out!  Next THURSDAY is BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT at WMS, from 7 to 9pm.  Parents will be virtually “walking in your shoes” — as they follow your daily schedule, meet your teachers, and tour the school. So go home and tell your folks — come to Back to School Night next week — and be a Part of the Pride!
