  • Back to School Night is here! Parents are invited to WMS tonight from 7 to 9 P.M. Parents will get to tour the building, hear from Principal Laurie and the PTA, and even “walk in your shoes” by following your schedule and meeting all your teachers. So tell your folks — it’s time to go Back to School!
  • Did you just move to Northern Virginia this year? All new students to Arlington Public Schools — whether 6th, 7th or 8th grade — are asked to please come to the auditorium IMMEDIATELY following the morning announcements TODAY to meet with your counselors and Ms. Hogwood. Again, all new APS students should go to the auditorium.
  • Stroke, Stroke, Stroke!! Yorktown Crew is looking for a few good 8th graders to join the team. Interested rowers should come to the informational meeting TODAY at 3:10 P.M. in Patriot Hall at Yorktown High School. Meet the coach and current athletes and learn about this amazing sport.
  • WMS and Arlington Public Schools are introducing a new team sport this year — ULTIMATE FRISBEE!! The Ultimate Girls Team began practice yesterday — but it’s not to late to join TODAY. No experience? NO PROBLEM! All are welcome to “chase some plastic.” Please see Ms. Smolinski with any questions.
  • We’ve got spirit, yes we do! We’ve got spirit, how about YOU! Grab your pom-poms, because tryouts are about to begin for the the WMS Cheerleading squad. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls AND boys are encouraged to come out — next TUESDAY – September 27th, during ASP 1. Just sign up on the Activity Board by the cafeteria and make sure you have a physical on file. Please see Ms. Sutphin with any questions.
  • The WMS Yearbook is putting together its spread for the new year — and the only thing missing is YOU!! First up: what did you do this summer? Submit a photo to the “Summer Vacations” page and be the ENVY of all your friends.
  • But that’s not all — you could also be featured in the “Now and Then” page! Send in a fun picture of yourself and your friends when you were itty-bitty kids — and see how much we’ve all changed. So whether it’s “Summer Vacations” or “Now and Then” — submit your pictures to Ms. Briones today! Her email can be found on the WMS website.
