  • Listen up, everybody — we’ve got some HOMEWORK for you this weekend!  So take out your agenda and write this down:  bring in your AGENDA MONEY!!
    .
That’s right, those shiny new agendas cost 7-dollars each — and it’s YOUR responsibility to reimburse the school. So please, tell your parents to write a check to WMS or send in cash — and give it to your TA teacher on Monday.  See your TA teacher or grade level counselor with any questions.
    .
  • The 8th grade “New Student Group” has been cancelled for today. Mr. Tuttle will be rescheduling your meeting for sometime next week. Once again, the 8th grade “New Student Group” will NOT be meeting during TA today.
    .
  • Game, set, MATCH!!  Tennis tryouts wrapped-up yesterday — and the competition was fierce!  Great job to all of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who brought their ‘A’ game to the court this week.  And now:  the moment of truth.  The WMS Tennis Team Roster is posted in the main lobby and by the cafeteria.  Be sure to take a look — the first team practice is scheduled for MONDAY afternoon.

  • The year may have just started, but it’s never too soon to start thinking about HIGH SCHOOL! Next week, representatives from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology — one of the top high schools in the COUNTRY — will be hosting an informational session for all 8th graders about their incredible academic programs and extra-curricular activities. You’ll also learn about the application and admissions process. The meeting will take place on MONDAY during WOLF TIME in the auditorium, and students will be attending with their TAs. See Mr. Tuttle with any questions.
    .
  • “Let’s put on a play!” The Act 2 Play Production Class is recruiting aspiring actors AND crew. Participants get to pick this year’s play and musical — which will be performed on the WMS main stage.  Classes will meet twice a week during ASP 1 and 2 — and the grade DOES count on your report card. For more information or to sign-up, come to the Activities Fair next THURSDAY after school — or see the drama teacher, Mr. Brown.
    .
  • September is “Suicide Prevention Month” — and WMS is committed to “shining a light” on this sensitive and heartbreaking topic.  Next TUESDAY, a representative from Arlington County will be visiting our school during all grade level lunches — with information about how to support others who are struggling with this serious issue.  Be sure to check it out.  And in the meantime, if you or someone you care about are in crisis, our school counselors are here to help.  “Just one conversation can save a life!”
