- Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. And don’t forget, all students should go back to your TA for Wolf Time. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - What are YOU doing after school this year? The WMS Activities Fair for 7th and 8th graders is TODAY from 3 to 3:35pm in the cafeteria. Meet with coaches, club sponsors, teachers, and participating students — and find the best activity for you! And if you’d like to take the late bus home after the event, just go up to the library when it’s over. See you at the Activities Fair!!
. - And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus!
. - And finally, this is Banned Books Week — which celebrates our FREEDOM TO READ, and raises awareness about the many books, essays, and publications that face censorship in schools and libraries around the country.
.
“Tom Sawyer”, “The Diary of Anne Frank”, a children’s book about Rosa Parks, “Harry Potter”, “The Hunger Games”, and HUNDREDS of other titles are being pulled from the shelves. But Banned Books Week is our chance say — no more. Be sure to check out our special “Banned Books Week” section in the WMS library, and talk to our librarians about additional resources.
.
And now, stay tuned for award-winning author Dav Pilkey — the creator of “Captain Underpants” — with a special message about the importance of books. And remember: you’ve got to fight for your right to read, Williamsburg!
