  • Could your parents survive a day in Middle School? We’ll soon find out!  TOMORROW is BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT at WMS, from 7 to 9pm. Parents will be virtually “walking in your shoes” — as they follow your daily schedule, meet your teachers, and tour the school. So go home and tell your folks — come to Back to School Night on Thursday — and be a Part of the Pride!

  • I don’t want to jinx anything, but it looks like the storm clouds are FINALLY gone!  Which means — we can FINALLY hold tryouts for WMS sports!   Tennis tryouts for 7th and 8th graders will be held TODAY after school. Athletes should meet by the bus loop for the walk over to Yorktown — and late buses WILL be provided afterwards.  6th graders will hold their tryouts on THURSDAY.  See Mr. Seeger with any questions — and don’t forget your racket!
    .
  •  The Boys Soccer team will also KICK things off this week.  Tryouts for ALL GRADE LEVELS — 6, 7, and 8 — will be held on THURSDAY after school on the turf field.  Athletes are reminded to wear their cleats and shin guards.  See Mr. Witte with any questions.

  • Calling all MUNners! If you are DEFINITELY committed to participating in the upcoming McLean High School conference on September 29th — a.k.a. McMUN — you must submit your Commitment Form and Payment by this THURSDAY. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. See Ms. Carlson with any questions.

  • Put your creative genius to the test!  The annual PTA Reflections Contest is now accepting submissions from all grade-level students. This year’s theme is: “Heroes Around Me.”  Projects can include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts.  Submission forms can be found in the WMS Library, and projects must be received by October 25th.  Now go create something awesome!!

  • Hey 8th graders! The year may have just started, but it’s already time to think about HIGH SCHOOL!  Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year.  If you’d like more information about this incredible academic opportunity, see Mr. Caldwell in the main office or go the TJ admissions website.  Good luck!

  • And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Solomon!   You absolutely, positively, MUST write down the passcode to your iPad.  Even better, share it with your parents!  Here’s the deal — even if you normally use your thumbprint to unlock your iPad, there are still times when need to enter your passcode instead. If you DO forget it, please immediately submit a student Tech Help request online — Ms. Solomon can clear it as long as you’re on the WiFi.  However, if you put in the wrong passcode in too many times, you will disable your iPad and it will have to be WIPED.  So again, do us all a favor — and WRITE DOWN YOUR PASSCODE!!
    .
  • Calling all bi-lingual 7th and 8th graders!  If you know how to read and write in any language other than English, you should take the “Credit by Exam.” It’s an easy way to earn up to FOUR high school credits. The test is scheduled for November 6th at Wakefield High School — but registration is open NOW.  See your grade-level counselor or a HILT teacher for more information, or to sign-up.
