- Let the games BEGIN! Today is FIELD DAY at WMS for all 6th and 7th graders. Your teachers and PTA have prepared a load of fun-and-games for your enjoyment — including a live DJ, raffles with great prizes, a dunk tank, a shaved ice truck, and plenty of food and drink.
.
Here’s the schedule of events — 7th graders will take the field in the morning, from 10 a.m. to 12:30. Then the 6th graders will get their turn in the afternoon, from 12:30 to 2:15. Everyone is reminded to wear plenty of sun screen, stay hydrated, and of course — to BE A PART OF THE PRIDE!! See your TA teacher or grade-level admin with any other questions about Field Day. Have fun, everybody!!
. - Calling all 6th graders! This is a reminder that your special movie presentation of “Apollo 13” will begin promptly at 8:20 this morning on WOLF-TV. It will be broadcast just like the Morning Announcements — so either tune-in to channel 45 or watch it streaming on the VLC media player. Enjoy the show!!
. - And now for all you 8th graders out there — you may not participating in Field Day today, but you’ve got something even better coming up: the year-end King’s Dominion field trip!!! That’s right — Your day at the amusement park begins first thing tomorrow morning.
.
8th graders are reminded to check-in with your TA teachers for attendance tomorrow, and then proceed immediately to the staging area with your assigned group. Once you’re all together, you’ll load onto the bus and hit the road! The forecast is calling for lots of sunshine tomorrow, so be sure to wear plenty of sunblock and drink lots of water.
.
And don’t forget that you’ll be representing your school and your community — so please be sure to behave with respect and responsibility throughout the day. See Ms. Rowden or Mr. Murphy with any other questions. And let’s have a great day at the park, wolves!
. - Can you believe that there’s less than a week remaining of school this year? Kids are counting down the days until the final bell next week — and student-reporters Ryan S. and Kiersten B. want to know what YOU are planning to do on summer vacation.
- There’s a very SPECIAL EVENT scheduled for this Friday — it’s the 4th quarter WOLF PAW DRAWING. To be eligible, you MUST turn-in all of your Wolf Paws by the end of lunch TODAY. Just drop them into the submission boxes located next to the cafeteria entrance. Late “paws” will not be accepted, so again — turn them in TODAY! And be sure to stop by the display case outside of the library for a sneak peak at all the swag that’s up for grabs. Good luck on the drawing, wolves!!
. - And now for an important announcement from our school librarians — all library books MUST be returned before the end-of-the-year. There are still over 350 overdue books out there — and the library needs them back. Overdue notices will be emailed home later this week — and students ARE responsible for paying a fine if their books are not returned. So look in your backpack, your locker, and under your bed at home — and BRING IN YOUR BOOKS!
. - Calling all student-athletes! If you played a school sport this year — you MUST return your team uniform AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Please bring them to Ms. Hogwood’s office, located across from the auditorium. Again, all team uniforms must be returned before the end-of-the-year.
. - Do you like Duck Donuts? Pizza? Bagels? Chocolate? OF COURSE YOU DO!! Ms. Compton’s English class is holding a raffle for all these delicious prizes — donated by Lee-Harrison Shops. Tickets are just 1-dollar each, and go on sale this THURSDAY and FRIDAY during all grade-level lunches. All money raised will benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital and help kids with cancer. Good luck!
. - One last thing before we go — Today will be the FINAL televised broadcast of the Morning Announcements on WOLF-TV. But before we go, we just wanted to give you a sneak-peak at how CRAZY it’s been this year — both in-front-of camera… AND behind-the scenes. Check it out!!
