• The SOLs continue today — as the 6th grade Coyote and Panther teams take the Reading Exam.  Testing locations are listed on the call-boards by the library and cafeteria, or you can also check with your TA teacher.
Test-takers are reminded that you may ONLY bring the following items: a pencil or pen, a book to read, and earbuds ONLY if you have an approved audio accommodation for the test. You may NOT bring: backpacks or cinch sacks; any electronic devices; nor any water or snacks. And of course, there is zero tolerance for CHEATING.
And for all those students who are NOT testing today — remember that we are on a REGULAR schedule.  But the bell will not be ringing between classes, so be sure to keep your eye on the clock.  Students are also asked to be quiet and respectful in the halls. Teachers will be monitoring the hallways to ensure that there are no disruptions.
Any other questions or concerns? Check with your teachers or grade level counselor. Good luck on the SOL, 6th graders!
  • Need something good to read?  The library may be closed during the SOLs, but students can still get books by clicking on the “Book Checkout Request” tab in the “Library” section of the WMS website.  The book will then be delivered to your TA as soon as it’s available.  Also, please be sure to return your books to the library carts located in the front lobby and by the cafeteria.  Reading rocks!
  • And here’s a special opportunity for rising 8th and 9th graders.  The Yorktown Color Guard is hosting “Open House Rehearsals” this week  for all interested students — TODAY from 3:15 to 4:30 and THURSDAY from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 174 at YHS.  The Color Guard combines music, dance, flag and sabre spinning in a fast-paced and spirited performance.  For more information, go to or contact Mr. Bersh, the Yorktown band director.
  • Calling all Cheerleaders!  Be sure to return your uniforms THIS WEEK during TA or in PE.  See Ms. Sutphin with any questions.
  • Listen up, 8th graders! The annual 8th grade CASINO NIGHT is scheduled for June 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. There will be table games, prizes, dancing, selfies, delicious food, and of course hanging out with your best friends. Feel free to dress up — or dress down — but either way: follow the dress code. Casino Night at WMS — don’t miss out on the fun!!
  • And now, it’s time to take a trip to everyone’s FAVORITE theme park.  WOLF-TV reporters Daniel G. and Lydia C. bring us the latest on Disney News!
