The SOLs keep rolling along! Today, all 8th graders will be taking the World Geography SOL — while all 6th and 7th graders attend “team time.” The test will run from 8 to 10:30am.

And here’s some more information about the test: 8th graders have been assigned to several testing locations throughout the school. Just check with your TA teacher if you’re unsure where to go.

The ONLY materials you may have with you are your iPad, a bottle of water, and a book. NO OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES are allowed — no phones, smart watches, e-readers, nor anything else.

As for our 6th and 7th graders, you’ll be spending the morning in your “team time” location. And when you’re walking through the halls, we ask that you please be quiet and considerate of our test-takers. Thanks for your help, wolves — and good luck on the test, 8th graders!!

To accommodate the testing period, we will be following a MODIFIED A-Day schedule. Once the test is over, students will proceed to periods 1, 3, 5, and 7. And don’t forget that you should go back to your TA classroom for Wolf Time. See your TA teacher for more information about the modified A-Day schedule.

The Yorktown Color Guard would like to invite rising 8th and 9th graders to their second Open House Practice — TONIGHT from 6 to 8pm at the YHS Main Entrance. The Color Guard combines music, dance, flag and sabre spinning in a fast-paced and spirited performance. If you’d like to attend the Color Guard Open House, please complete the online “Interest Form” located on the Morning Announcements Blog — or just show up! All are welcome!

How would you like to get a sweet treat AND do a good deed at the same time!? WMS will be holding a “Bake Sale Fundraiser” on FRIDAY after school — outside of the cafeteria and by the front entrance. All money raised will be donated to Clothesline — a charitable organization that helps Arlington families-in-need by supplying free clothing to school-aged children. It’s a great cause — and together we can make a difference!
