  • SOL Schedule -- 5/23/19The SOLs roll-on here at WMS — with all 7th graders taking the Math SOL.  Here’s a look at the testing schedule for May 23rd….
    .
We will be following “Team Time Bell Schedule B.” While the 7th graders are testing from 8 to 10:48 a.m. — 8th graders will go to Team Time, and 6th graders will follow the adjusted ‘B’ schedule beginning at 8:15. Testing locations are listed on the call-boards by the cafeteria and auditorium, or you can check with your TA teacher.
    .
Test-takers are reminded that you may ONLY bring the following items: your fully-charged iPad, a pencil or pen, a book to read, and earbuds ONLY if you have an approved audio accommodation for the test. You may NOT bring: backpacks or cinch sacks; any other electronic devices such as phones, watches, game consoles and the like; nor any water or snacks. And of course, there is zero tolerance for CHEATING.
    .
And for all those students who are NOT testing today — please remember to be quiet and respectful when you’re passing by the Library. Teachers will be monitoring the hallways to ensure that there are no disruptions.
    .
Please be aware that the testing window may extend beyond 10:48 — so students should remain in their designated locations until Mr. Boykin makes an announcement over the PA — at which time students may proceed to class.
    .
Any other questions or concerns? Check with your teachers, grade level counselors, or Ms. Cameron. Good luck on your SOLs, 7th grade!
    .
  • Did you get a good breakfast today? On EVERY scheduled SOL testing day from now until June, the WMS cafeteria will be offering a FREE BREAKFAST to all students, from 7:25 to 7:50 a.m. It’s a FACT that a healthy breakfast fuels both your body AND your mind. So give yourself the best chance for success, and EAT YOUR BREAKFAST!!
    .
  • The WMS Library will be CLOSED today during SOL testing hours. But it WILL be open after school. So be sure to stop by this afternoon and get yourself something good to read for after your SOL!
    .
  • Interested in dance, music, and marching band? The Yorktown High School COLORGUARD is now recruiting current seventh and eighth graders for the 2019 season. There will be an OPEN HOUSE for interested students TODAY from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Yorktown band hallway. Meet the coach, many of the participants, and everything you need to know to be a part of the team. No experience necessary — but the deadline to join is June 11th.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the LATE bus. If you’re ever planning to take the LATE BUS after school — you MUST have a signed bus pass for both ASP1 and 2. If you do not have a pass — you will NOT be allowed to ride the late bus. Again — the pass must be SIGNED for both ASP1 and 2 in order to ride the Late Bus. See your grade-level administrator with any questions.
    .
  • And finally today, as we prepare to embark on another day of SOL testing — student-reporter John E. has a way for everyone to stress less — and laugh MORE.  Check it out!
