- Today we will be following the C-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1 through 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a C-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - The SOLs are about to begin! Tomorrow morning, the entire school will be taking the READING SOL. In preparation, students are reminded to charge their iPads, get a good night’s sleep, and eat a healthy breakfast. You want to be at your best for the test! Also, please be aware that NO other electronics will be allowed during testing — so you might want to bring a BOOK in case you finish early. See your counselor or TA teacher with any other questions about tomorrow’s test. And good luck!!
. - And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Solomon! Students will be taking their SOLs using their school-issued iPads — so they need to be working! If you are having any issues with your iPad — whether it’s password problems, not connecting to the internet, glitching apps, cracked screens, or ANYTHING else — please submit the online “Student Tech Help Request” form through the WMS website. Ms. Solomon’s got the solution to getting you back online!
. - Give a Helping Hand to a four-legged friend! The WMS Helping Hands Club is wrapping-up the school year with its favorite project: a supply drive for the Animal Welfare League of Arlington! Students and staff are encouraged to donate dog toys, pet food, leashes, or anything else on the “wishlist” posted around school. The collection bin is located in the front lobby — but today is your LAST DAY to donate. See 8th grader Sam W. with any questions. Give a dog a bone, Williamsburg!!
. - We’ve got spirit, yes we do, we’ve got spirit, how about you??? The 2023 WMS Pep Rally is scheduled for Friday, May 26th — but this week is your LAST CHANCE to sign-up as a participant! Ms. Hogwood has emailed everyone the link in Canvas. And remember that you can only sign-up for ONE game — so choose wisely! Once again, Pep Rally sign-ups end this FRIDAY.
. - Attention 6th and 7th graders! Next year, WMS will be creating its first ever group of STUDENT AMBASSADORS! Ambassadors will represent our school at special events and help to build a positive community within our shared environment.

Interested students are encouraged to get an application from the main office or in your grade-level school counseling Canvas course. The application deadline is next Friday, May 26th. See Ms. Kenney or your class counselor with any questions about the Student Ambassadors.
. - The Yorktown Colorguard will be hosting a “spin clinic” TODAY during all 7th and 8th grade gym periods. Color Guard combines music, dance, flag and sabre spinning in a fast-paced and spirited performance. Check it out!
- Colorguard is a BLAST! If you’re thinking about joining for next year, please go to the Colorguard informational meeting TOMORROW at 3:30 in the Yorktown Band Room.
. - And finally, May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. In celebration of this occasion, one of our very own Williamsburgers is here to share her family’s story.
