  • To begin today, we’d like to welcome a pair of guests to the WOLF-TV studio — and they’re both so “dog-gone” excited to bring you this message.  Please welcome Mr. Caldwell and Ms. Boyers!
    .
  • BOYERS: Good morning Williamsburg!  My name is Ms. Boyers.
    .
    CALDWELL:  And I’m Mr. Caldwell.
    .
BOYERS:  May is Mental Health Awareness Month — and today, we’re here with the first in a series of MINDFUL MOMENTS — special programming and activities to help us all stress LESS — and laugh MORE.
    .
CALDWELL: As you know, the SOLs are coming up, which can be RUFF for some students.  Testing can sometimes cause anxiety — and make you want to HOWL with stress.
    .
BOYERS:  But we’ve got a solution. This afternoon, we’ll be hosting a PAWS-itively exciting event during all grade-level lunches.  Williamsburg is going to the dogs!!
    .
CALDWELL: “Therapy dogs” — to be precise.  They’re calm, gentle, and here to serve YOU.  Therapy dogs have been scientifically proven to:
    –lift spirits and lessen depression
    –decrease feelings of isolation
    –improve communication
    –provide comfort and reduce anxiety
–and even lower your blood pressure!
    .
BOYERS: So today ONLY, if you’d like to bond with some furry friends, we’ll be escorting SMALL GROUPS from the cafeteria to the Library during all grade-level lunches — and you’ll get some quality time to pet these wonderful pets.
    .
CALDWELL: So make sure to eat quickly and join the fun! I hope you have a FUR-tastic Friday!  And stay tuned for more Mindful Moments all month long.
    .
  • Wow!  Dogs in school!  I CANINE wait to see it!  Anyway — back to the news.  Believe it or not, but we’re nearly at the halfway mark of the 4th and final quarter of the year! This is a reminder that midterm grades will be posted next week — so students with any missing work, incompletes, or retakes should get with their teachers as soon as possible. Stop procrastinating and get it done!!
    .
  • And now for a “technology tip” from Ms. Solomon! The SOLs are just around the corner — and your iPad NEEDs to be working.  If you are having any problems with your school-issued iPad — whether it’s password problems, not connecting to the internet, glitching apps, cracked screens, or ANYTHING else — please submit the online “Student Tech. Help Request” form through the WMS website. Ms. Solomon’s got the solution! So submit today — and get yourself back online.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
