  • Attention 8th graders! The Writing SOL begin TODAY — and there are a few things you need to know. The schedule is as follows:  we begin with the Multiple Choice portion — Cavs and Rams this morning; Hokies and Patriots tomorrow. Then on Monday the Cavs and Rams are up again for the Writing portion of the SOL, and on Tuesday it’ll be the Hokies and Patriot’s turn.
  • When going to your testing locations, you will NOT be allowed to bring your backpacks, water, snacks nor ANY electronic devices — including phones, iPads, smart watches. or anything else. But you SHOULD bring a pencil or pen, and a BOOK to read in case you finish early — but again, no electronic readers. If you are not sure where you’re testing, just ask your TA teacher or check the postings outside of the cafeteria, the Gym, and the English trailer. Good luck on the SOL, 8th graders!
  • And even if you’re NOT testing today — students are reminded to be QUIET and CONSIDERATE when walking through the halls between classes. Teachers will be posted by the Gym, the World Language hall, and the Library to ensure that EVERYONE acts responsibly. Also, it is VERY important that all phones and iPads remain OFF and disconnected from the WMS Wi-Fi during testing. Thanks for your help, wolves!
  • It’s March Madness here at WMS, but not just for basketball.  It’s the WMS “Tournament of Books!”  And if you haven’t filled out your bracket yet, here’s a look at our Sweet Sixteen match-ups!
  • For more information about each contestant, just scan the QR codes by the cafeteria. Once you’ve got your picks, submit them using the Tournament of Books QR code, or just go to the WOLF-TV section on the WMS website. Get your Sweet Sixteen picks in by TOMORROW, and may the best book win!!
  • Calling all Math Lovers! Math Counts will meet TODAY during lunch and after school. The lunch meetings are: 6th grade in room 203, 7th grade in room 134, and 8th grade in room WW3. The after school meeting will be in WW4 for all students. Hooray for math!!
  • The WMS SCA will be holding a MANDATORY meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 215 for all officers and reps. See Mr. Tagert or Mr. Peacock with any questions.
  • Mr. Dudek’s ACT II Inventions class will NOT be meeting today. Once again, ACT II Inventions has been cancelled.  But class will resume as scheduled next week.  See Mr. Dudek with any questions.
  • The Model UN Club will NOT be meeting today.  But there will be a pair of IMPORTANT meetings next week:  on TUESDAY, 8th graders  will be preparing for WOLFMUN, and next THURSDAY participants be working on TECHMUN.  Please see Mrs. Carlson with any questions.
  • The Leo Club will be meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 120.  Participants will be preparing for next weeks’ field trip to the Animal Welfare League. Be sure to get your permission slips, and GO LEO!!
  • Calling all ballers and hoopsters… it’s time to kick-off the annual Hoops for Heart Fundraiser, in partnership with the American Heart Association! Participants can earn great gifts and cool prizes — all while raising money to help research and fight heart disease. Students in all grade-levels will receive their fundraising information and envelopes in PE this week. Then save-the-date for March 24th, when the school will host a Hoops for Heart Celebrate in PE, complete with basketball games, half court shooting contests, and hula hoop competitions. Do your part for Hoops for Heart!
