  • The SOLs are here! That’s right, this week 8th graders will be taking their Writing SOLs.  Today, it’s the CAVALIERS and HOKIES.  Testing locations are posted by the cafeteria and the gym, and you can also check with your TA teacher.
    .
Here are a few things you need to know: you will NOT be allowed to bring your backpacks, pens nor pencils, water, snacks nor ANY electronic devices during the test.  But you may bring a BOOK to read in case you finish early — just no electronic readers. See Ms. Cameron or your school counselor with any questions. Good luck on the SOL, Cavaliers and Hokies!
    .
  • And a quick reminder to ALL 8th graders — tomorrow is the “multiple choice” section of the Writing SOL, and you WILL need your FULLY-CHARGED iPad to take the test.  Students below 80-percent will be required to use a laptop, instead.  So please be sure to plug in your iPad tonight — so you’re ready to go tomorrow.
    .
  • As for everybody else, we will be following a REVERSE schedule today — starting with an extended TA, and then periods 7 through 1.  However, all lunch times will remain the same.  Check with your TA teacher with any other questions about the schedule.
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!  Last week, the WMS Wind Ensemble competed in the annual District 12 Middle School Assessment at Marshall High School — the most highly respected band event in Virginia — and the wolves were BIG WINNERS.  The Wind Ensemble earned the highest possible rating of “Superior” from all four adjudicators.  In other words, they ROCKED.  Way to go, musical wolves!! [clap]

  • "Snow Tiger" -- National Silver Key Award WinnerWolf Pack Pride continues with BIG NEWS from the art department.  Williamsburg students submitted 30 art projects to the National Scholastic Art Competition in New York City — pitting their work against THOUSANDS of the most creative projects in the country.  And one of our very own wolves stood out from all the rest.  Congratulations to 8th grader Maddie D., whose watercolor “Snow Tiger” won a National Silver Key Award — the ONLY piece of artwork selected at the middle school level for Arlington.  It was the 2nd national award won by a Williamsburg student in the past 3 years.  They’re on a roll!  Way to go, artistic wolves!! [clap]
    .
  • Calling all Officers and Representatives of the Williamsburg SCA — you will be getting your picture taken for the WMS Yearbook this FRIDAY during Wolf Time in the Main Lobby by the Library.  And then, immediately following the photo, there will be a mandatory SCA meeting during in room 205.  See Mr. Peacock or Mr. Tagert with any questions.
    .
  • DONUTS ARE BACK!!! The Williamsburg PTA is asking for donations to meet its yearly fundraising goal. And here’s how you students can help — TELL YOUR PARENTS TO DONATE!! For every 10-dollars your parents donate to the WMS PTA this week, you’ll get an entry into a drawing to win donuts for your entire TA! KIDS LOVE DONUTS! So please tell your parents to donate TODAY!

  • And finally, there’s a big MYSTERY in the cafeteria these days — and we’re not talking about the lunch meat.  Student-Reporter Wil T. investigates the DISAPPEARANCE of a very popular item from the lunch line.
