We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!! The second round of Writing SOLs is COMPLETE. Congratulations to our 8th grade Hokies and Patriots for performing so well under pressure — and now you can finally relax. Way to go, test-takers! [clap]

But there are still a few tests to go. Make-up testing for the Writing SOL will be conducted in the library today beginning during 1st period. Students are reminded to bring NOTHING with you but an iPad. And for everyone else — please be QUIET and CONSIDERATE when passing by the library today. Good luck, test-takers!

Wolf Pack Pride continues with the WMS “Odyssey of the Mind” team — which WON the regional competition this weekend for Northern Virginia. They now advance to the STATE FINALS, scheduled for April 14th. Congratulations to Ben W., Sean K., Roy V., Zoe H., Haley P.G., Joe T. and Kate D — who ALL contributed to the big win. Way to go, Odyssey wolves!! [clap]

Calling all 8th graders! Students from Yorktown High School will be leading a special presentation TODAY in the auditorium during all 8th grade PE and Health classes. Again, all 8th graders should report to the AUDITORIUM for PE and Health. See your PE teacher with any questions.

The WMS Helping Hands Club is “helping” kids with cancer… but they need your HELP!! There will be a charity candy drive — every MONDAY and TUESDAY this month after school by the cafeteria. All money raised will go to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital — and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. So bring your money, get a sweet treat, and HELP these deserving kids at the same time. See Ms. Compton or Mr. Johnson with any questions.

The Technology Student Association — aka the TSA — will NOT be meeting today. But sessions will resume next month. And Mr. Dudek says — see you after Spring Break!!

Rehearsal for the WMS Spring Musical has been CANCELLED for today. Again, there is NO REHEARSAL for the theater production this afternoon. See Mr. Brown with any questions.

Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown tutors are coming back — this TUESDAY during ASP 2 in room WW 6. Get extra help with grammar, vocab, and everything you need to succeed! But you MUST sign-up with your Spanish teacher ahead of time to attend, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!

Calling all science fair participants! You are invited to the USA Science and Engineering Festival, which is scheduled for Friday, April 6th. This exclusive event offers the chance to explore nearly 3,000 hands-on exhibits from the world’s leading scientific and engineering societies, universities, government agencies, high-tech corporations and STEM organizations. But to attend, you MUST sign up by THIS WEDNESDAY. See Ms. Cameron for a permission slip, or with any questions.

It’s down to the Final Four in the WMS Tournament of Books. With over 1,200 votes last week, we had some major upsets. “Hammer of Thor” CRUSHED the “Maze Runner”, and both “The Red Pyramid” and “Peanut” dominated their competition. March is College Awareness Month — and it’s time once again for some “College Knowledge!”

Here’s some fun facts:
- According to the Federal Reserve, people with college education earn roughly 60-percent more than those with only a high school diploma, which adds up to more than 800-THOUSAND dollars over a lifetime.
- And the Department of Education reports that this year over 20-MILLION students will graduate from American colleges and universities, 11.5-million of which are WOMEN — which is well-over half of all expected graduates. Way to go, girls! Competition today is FIERCE.

College Awareness continues all week long. So mark your calendars: Wednesday is College Clothing Day — so be sure to wear your favorite college t-shirt, sweatshirt, or school colors. Then on Thursday, the Student Services Staff will be judging the College Door Decoration Contest. And on Friday, it’ll be College Trivia on the Morning Announcement. Let’s get PUMPED about College, wolves!!
