  • Today is an EARLY RELEASE day, so the schedule is a little different than usual.  We will be following a modified “Anchor” C-Day schedule. That means TA ends at 7:59, and then you’ll be attending periods 1 through 7.  Be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class.  Again, this is a modified “Anchor” C-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.

  • TA Pictures -- 2022Attention all TAs!!  Smile for the camera!  Over the next few weeks, the WMS Yearbook Staff will be taking TA pictures of the entire school!  Here’s the schedule:  8th grade TAs will be this Thursday and Friday.  And any make-ups and retakes will be scheduled for next week.
    .
Yearbook photographers will come to your room to take the picture.  They’ll be arranging everyone into 2-lines — but if you’d like to do something more creative as a TA, be sure to practice your pose in advance so you’re ready to go.  Contact Mr. Schonfeld with any questions about TA pictures.
    .
  • Calling all Divers and Swimmers! If you’d like to compete in the upcoming season, your physical must be submitted by next MONDAY.  And don’t forget to complete the online google form by February 22nd — located on the swim page of the WMS website.  See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
    .
  • The WMS Gender and Sexuality Alliance is getting T-SHIRTS!!   GSA members must place their T-shirt orders by next MONDAY at the latest.  Contact Mr. Bell or Ms. Bleakley for more information or with any questions.
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Art Department racked up the glory at this year’s Scholastic Art Competition.  FIFTEEN Williamsburg students won a total of TWENTY “gold keys” for their projects —  in the categories of Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics, Photography, and Drawing & Illustrating.
    .
Congratulations to 7th graders Abby K., Anni S., Sam W., Juan V., and Ginger B!
    .
And to 8th graders Lena M., Henry M., Sydney P., Gabe M., Charlotte P., Maya O., Addison H., Alana H. Anna T., and Addi M!  Way to go, artistic wolves!! [clap]
    .
All of their projects will be showcased next month in the display case in the Main Lobby.  But that’s not all!  All of the winners will now be entered into a NATIONAL art competition — where they could win scholarships worth THOUSANDS of dollars. Good luck, wolves!
    .
  • And finally, February is Black History Month — a time to reflect on the inspiring women and men who helped make this country great.  Here’s an interesting fact:  Did you know that Black History Month was first created as a WEEK-long celebration in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson — a noted African American historian and scholar!  He chose February because it coincided with the birthdays of Frederick Douglas and Abraham Lincoln.
    .
Fifty years later — in 1976 — President Gerald Ford officially recognized February as “Black History Month” to coincide with our nation’s Bicentennial.  To learn more about the incredible contributions of African Americans throughout history, be sure to check out our display in the WMS Library!
