- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - Attention all TAs!! Smile for the camera! Over the next few weeks, the WMS Yearbook Staff will be taking TA pictures of the entire school! Here’s the schedule: 7th grade TAs will be TODAY and TOMORROW — and 8th grade TAs will be this Thursday and Friday. All make-ups and retakes will then be scheduled for the week of February 14th.
.
Yearbook photographers will come to your room to take the picture. They’ll be arranging everyone into 2-lines — but if you’d like to do something more creative as a TA, be sure to practice your pose in advance so you’re ready to go. Contact Mr. Schonfeld with any questions about TA pictures.
. - Attention all students! It’s time for your new Wolf Time!! Starting TODAY, all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be starting their new Wolf Time rotations. So be sure to check with your TA teachers to find out where you’ll be going. Again, the new Wolf Time rotation begins today!
. - Read any good books lately? The “Talk about Books” Club” — a.k.a. TAB — will be meeting TODAY during all grade level lunches in the library. So grab your grub and come take a look at these Totally Awesome Books!!
. - Calling all cast and crew of the WMS Spring Musical — “The Addams Family!” Rehearsals begin TODAY after school in the auditorium. Tech crew is also asked to attend for the first few minutes for a quick check-in. See Ms. Rosenthal with any questions. Break a leg!!
. - Who wants pizza?!? The WMS Sister Circle Club will be hosting ANOTHER pizza fundraiser on TUESDAY after school in the Main Lobby. It’s just 2-dollars per slice of cheese OR pepperoni. Plus, you can also get a candy bar for a buck! The Sister Circle Pizza Fundraiser — Get it while it’s hot!!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE! The WMS Girls Basketball team tipped-off its season last week with tough losses to Gunston and Swanson. But they played tough for all four quarters — led by Fiona B. and Ainsley L. With great defense. Way to go, baller wolves, you’ll get them next time!! [clap] Their next match is scheduled for TOMORROW at 3:15 in the WMS Gym. So show your school spirit, sign-up to attend the game, and let’s root them on to victory!!
. - Wolf Pack Pride continues with Wolfbots Robotics — who competed at the VEX Regional Tournament over the weekend. Out of 26 teams, the Wolfbots took 2nd and 3rd place — an OUTSTANDING result. Way to go, robotics wolves!! [clap]. The Wolfbots are still in the running for the Virginia State Championship. We’ll find out if they get an invite at the end of the season. Wish them luck!!
. - This week is National School Counseling Week, and we’d like to take a moment to thank our AMAZING team of counselors for the tremendous impact they have on our school — and helping our students achieve success.
.
Students are encouraged to send a “thank you” message to their counselors during TA — and make sure to say “hello” when you see them in the halls. Let’s hear it for Ms. Bleakly, Ms. Brenckle, Mr. Garder, and Ms. Kenney! Way to go, WMS counselors!! [clap]
. - And finally, February is Black History Month — a time to reflect on the inspiring women and men who helped make this country great. Here’s an interesting fact for you: Civil Rights leader John Lewis — who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and went on to serve in the United States Congress — worked his entire life to combat racial discrimination.
.
His story was immortalized in the graphic novel “March” — an autobiographical re-telling of Lewis’s monumental achievements in the Civil Rights movement. The entire “March” series is available now in the WMS Library. Check it out — and celebrate Black History Month!
