  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Math Counts Team put their “numerical knowledge” to the test at the Regional Northern Virginia MATHCOUNTS Competition at George Mason University on Saturday. The team made a strong showing — highlighted by 8th grader Lynelle C., who earned HIGHEST SCORE of any APS student, and finished in the top 25-percent in the region!  Congratulations to all of our contestants on a great season.  Way to go, human-calculator wolves!! [clap]
    .
  • Wolf Pack Pride continues with sports!  The WMS Boys Basketball Team is looking to stay undefeated with a matchup on the road against Gunston Middle School today at 3:15.  Let’s root them on to victory, and Be a Part of the Pride.  Go get em’, baller wolves!! [clap]
    .
  • It is the Day of Reckoning, everybody!  TA teachers will be distributing your 2nd Quarter report cards this morning.  Be sure to take them home, get them signed, and return the detachable portion to your teacher.  Questions about your grades?  See your grade level counselor.  Good luck, wolves!
    .
  • Attention 8th graders — or should we say, rising 9th graders?! Your high school Course Request Forms must be completed and returned to your counselor, Mr. Tuttle, by this FRIDAY at the LATEST. There are a ton of fun, interesting, and challenging classes to choose from at Yorktown. But if you miss the deadline, you may not get the one you want. So stop procrastinating, and turn-in your CRF!! See Mr. Tuttle with any questions.
    .
  • Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown tutors are coming back — TODAY during ASP 2 in room WW 11. Get extra help with grammar, vocab, and everything you need to succeed! Just sign-up with your Spanish teacher ahead of time to attend, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!
    .
  • Everybody in the pool!  The WMS swim team is hosting an informational meeting this THURSDAY during ASP 1 in the cafeteria. Interested athletes are encouraged to stop by and learn all about the upcoming season.  See Ms. Hogwood with any questions, or if you’re unable to attend.
    .
  • Sister Circle will be meeting on THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 233. Members and allies are encouraged to come out for a little Girl Talk — and a lot of fun activities! There will be a special guest speaker this week — and PIZZA! — so don’t be late.  See Ms. Cameron with any questions.
    .
  • “All the world’s a stage!”  The WMS Drama Department will be posting the Cast List for the Spring Musical on THURSDAY outside of room 228.  And then, the entire cast is invited to the show’s first “read through” on THURSDAY afternoon, during ASP 1 on the Main Stage.  Don’t miss it!  See Mr. Brown with any questions.
    .
  • Hey, animal lovers!  Did you know that 6 to 8 million pets are abandoned in America each year? This is a real problem. Check out the banner in the Main Lobby for information and statistics about all the pets left behind — and maybe YOU can do something to help.  Don’t FORGET about your PET!
