  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The Yorktown Debate Team wrapped up its season last week — and a pair of WMS Wolves were a BIG part of their success.  Congratulations to 7th graders Abby F. — who is a Pokémon master and catches them all — and Bella R. for finishing strong and being great team leaders this year.  Both debaters are primed to take the league by storm next year when they move up from Novice to JV.  Way to go, debating wolves!! [clap]

  • Attention 8th graders — or should we say, rising 9th graders?! Your high school Course Request Forms must be completed and returned to your counselor, Mr. Tuttle, by this FRIDAY at the LATEST. There are a ton of fun, interesting, and challenging classes to chose from at Yorktown.  But if you miss the deadline, you may not get the one you want.  So stop procrastinating, and turn-in your CRF!! See Mr. Tuttle with any questions.
    .
  • It’s “National School Counseling Week” — and all of your WMS school counselors want to remind you that their doors are OPEN.  Things like peer pressure, difficulty at school, problems with friends and family — can be difficult to deal with alone.  So don’t try to go it alone.  Your school counselors are here to help.  That’s what they do.  Drop by the main office and see your counselor TODAY!

  • Who wants a free bicycle? Thanks to a partnership between WMS and Phoenix Bikes, you can now build your own bike, learn to do all the maintenance and upkeep yourself, and you can keep it for FREE!! Interested students are invited to an informational session TODAY during ASP 1 in room 124. See Ms. Scruggs for more information — and get yourself a new bike!!
    .
  • Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown tutors are coming back — this TUESDAY during ASP 2 in room WW 11. Get extra help with grammar, vocab, and everything you need to succeed! Just sign-up with your Spanish teacher ahead of time to attend, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!
    .
  • Everybody in the pool!  The WMS swim team is hosting an informational meeting this THURSDAY during ASP 1 in the cafeteria. Interested athletes are encouraged to stop by and learn all about the upcoming season.  See Ms. Hogwood with any questions, or if you’re unable to attend.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.

  • It’s time to share the love, Williamsburg! The WMS Kindness Club is promoting a new campaign for the month of February: “Have a Heart.” Animal shelters across America house THOUSANDS of homeless pets — but often can’t provide even basic warmth and comfort. But you can help! All this month, the Kindness Club will be collecting new or gently used towels and blankets for donation. Collection bins are located in the main lobby by the library. So “have a heart” and “do your part” to support our furry friends in need!
