- Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - This next announcement is for all of our students who were selected for the field trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture next Tuesday. The field trip has been CANCELLED. Once again, since there will not be school next Tuesday, the field trip to the African American Museum will need to be rescheduled. Ms. Mays or Dr. Ellis will be contacting you soon with more information.
. - Listen up, 6th graders! How would YOU like to be on the Yearbook Staff next year? The WMS Yearbook is now accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year. This select group of students uses photography and graphic design to make a keepsake for the ages. But space is limited! To apply, just select Yearbook on your CRF — and then pick up an application from your school counselor or Mr. Schonfeld in the Library Classroom. The WMS Yearbook — Be a Part of the Pride!!
. - A reminder for all 8th graders — if you haven’t already done so, please complete the Academic Planning Exit Ticket on Canvas this morning in TA. Just go to the “8th School Counseling” class on Canvas — then click “Academic Planning Exit Ticket.” It should only take you a few minutes — but it is MANDATORY for everyone. Again, all remaining 8th graders must complete the Academic Planning Exit Ticket during TA. See Ms. Brenckle with any questions.
. - And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Wielechoski in the office with any questions.
. - It’s the cold and flu season — and you may have noticed that a number of your classmates have been falling ill lately. But there’s something super easy and super important that you can do to protect yourself from those nasty germs: WASH YOUR HANDS!! Challenge yourself to wash your hands throughout the day — especially before lunch and after using the restroom. Health officials say that lathering your hands with soap for 20 to 30 seconds can kill the majority of germs that make people sick. So let’s keep it clean, wolves, and wash your hands!!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!! The WMS wrestling team traveled to Jefferson Middle School yesterday for the Championship County Meet. They were competing against the best pound-for-pound fighters in Arlington — but the wolves gave it everything they had.
.
NINE wolves made the Finals — and FOUR of our wrestlers came in FIRST PLACE: 7th graders Braeden M., Charles C., and Matt V., and 8th grader Chris N. Plus, 8th grader Everett B. came in 2nd, and 7th graders Luke S., Coby C., Eric C., and 8th grader TJ W. captured third.
.
All together the team won SECOND PLACE overall in Arlington County — to wrap-up an amazing season. Way to go, wrestling wolves!! [clap]
