. - SAM: Welcome to your WOLF-TV 2020 Election Update. I’m student-reporter Sam.
.
The runup to the 2020 presidential election continued this week with the primary in New Hampshire. And this time, we actually have results.
.
Senator Bernie Sanders won New Hampshire with 25.7% of the vote. In 2nd was former-Mayor Pete Buttigeig with 24.4, and rounding out the top-3 was a bit of a surprise — Senator Amy Klobuchar with 19.8%.
.
Senator Elizabeth Warren and former-VP Joe Biden finished 4th and 5th, both with less than 10-percent of the vote.
.
The results of the primary solidify Bernie’s status as front-runner for the Democratic nomination, while Buttigeig is still a strong contender after a close second place finish. And Klobuchar outperformed all expectations — and looks strong moving forward.
.
However, Warren and Biden’s meager finishes puts the pressure on their campaigns to improve — or they may soon be out of the race.
.
The next primary will be in Nevada on February 22nd. Also making headlines — long-shot candidate Andrew Yang officially ended his presidential bid, and billionaire Mike Bloomberg is getting some heat over a leaked audio tape from 2015 — where he defends a controversial “stop and frisk” program from his time as New York’s mayor.
.
And in local news — Elizabeth Warren will be hosting a town hall meeting TONIGHT right here in Arlington, at 7pm at Wakefield High School. I bet she’s got a plan to tell you about.
.
I’ll be back throughout the year with continuing coverage of the 2020 Election. Rock the vote, Williamsburg!
