  • 6th grade, 7th grade, or 8th grade — who do YOU think has the MOST school spirit?!  Well, we’re about to find out!  Next week is SPIRIT WEEK at WMS — and the SCA challenges every student in every TA on every team in every grade to show their Wolf Pack Pride!

    Here’s the rundown:  Monday is Pajama Day; Tuesday is Twin Day; Wednesday is Wacky Hair and Hat Day; Thursday is Sports Day; and Friday is Ugly Sweater Day — a holiday tradition.  Let’s have some fun and show some spirit, wolves!!
  • Wolfpack pride is going strong!  The Girls Soccer team plays its FINAL game today against Kenmore at the Washington-Lee Field.  They’re looking to wrap-up a PERFECT season — undefeated AND unscored upon. Students are encouraged to pack the bleachers and cheer them on to victory!

    Plus, the Boys Basketball team take to the hardcourt against Kenmore this afternoon — looking for another big win against a tough team.  Let’s them wish GOOD LUCK everybody — Go get ’em, sporty wolves!!
  • Calling all Math Lovers! Math Counts will meet TODAY during lunch and after school. The lunch meetings are: 6th grade in room 203, and 8th grade in room WW3. The 7th grade lunch meeting has been CANCELLED.  But ALL grade levels may attend the after school meeting in room WW4. Hooray for math!!
  • Community service in action! The LEO club is meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 120 — and will be preparing gifts for soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center. All are welcome — GO LEOS!!
  • Make a submission to the Black History Month WRITING CONTEST! Here’s the challenge: Write an essay about contributions made by African-Americans that make a positive impact on your daily life through science, technology, education, politics, or the arts. The contest is open to all students in all grades. The deadline to submit is this FRIDAY. Please see Ms. Pointer or your English teacher for more information, and to submit your entry. Good luck, writing Wolves!!
  • Pizza Friday is Back! The Model UN Club will be selling pizza and cookies for just 2-dollars this FRIDAY after school in the Main Lobby and outside the Cafeteria. All money raised will go to support the upcoming UN conferences. Come hungry!
  • Sister Circle will be meeting on MONDAY during ASP 1 in room 233. There will be a special guest speaker who’s an EXPERT on 21st century leadership skills — so you won’t want to miss it! And be sure to bring a friend! Please see Ms. Pointer with any questions.
  • All black and Latino middle school boys are invited to join the “Boys Cohort” — a new club where you can meet new people, and learn how to be a LEADER in your community. The first meeting is scheduled for next TUESDAY during ASP 1 in room 233. Allies are welcome, too! Please see Ms. Pointer with any questions.
  • Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown Spanish Honor Society is back — offering FREE tutoring next TUESDAY during ASP 2 in room WW5. Get extra help with grammar and vocab — and everything you need to succeed. Just sign up with your Spanish teacher to attend, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!
